Anesthesia can be used on teenagers to deaden and probably eliminate the pain, but for infants it cannot be used and they feel every bit of it. If you are uncut, it is best that you NOT undergo circumcision. If you think you need to get one to 'cure' phimosis, you should first try to stretch the opening until it can be retracted, or it can be left as it is because there is no need for the foreskin to ever be retracted.
I say this because I was circumcised at birth, and I don't want to be cut. This probably wouldn't happen to you, but my penis has been permanently disfigured, with defects that occured as a result of the doc's botched surgery. I am trying to lower the number of guys who end up cut like me against their will, unless they are old enough to decide for themselves.

Umm, yaa it will hurt after the surgery but you wont feel it during the surgery, but just like any surgery, there is going to be after pain.

They give you meds to take the pain away most likely.

Actually, you do need to retract your foreskin because you have to clean down there everyday, well your supposed to, if not your highly prone to infections, but it is the doctors decision as to whether or not you need to be circumcised, its your choice to choose your road, but to answer your question, my friend recently got circumcised and he said it hurts after everything is done

it is painful to be cut no matter your age.. it is a matter of how much you remember the pain

Use your logic?
They are cutting part of you off. Of course it's going to hurt. Drugs can be taken to ease the pain and whatnot, but I'm sure that it'll hurt at some point. I'm not trying to sound mean but just think about what you are asking and try answering the question yourself.

Well obviously it's going to hurt. But I'm guessing that you already knew that much... It won't hurt whist it's getting removed but it is going to hurt for a few days after and it will take some time to get used to the skin not being there anymore.

It is a painful process and it takes time to heal. you won't feel pain during the surgery but you will feel it for weeks after. It is a process which is not recommended to be honest save the most extreme medical cases. If you have phymosis there are completely painless methods to cure it. Simply ask your doctor. And don't listen to theological bullshit about circumsition.

There you go! Couldn't have said it much better myself.

Well almost any surgery is going to make you sore for a while, but if you are really considering it, there are many benefits. The short period of pain afterward shouldn't be what changes your mind. I mean, you might not be running around right after, but a little pain only makes you stronger right?
I am cut, I have no problem with it at all. It's cleaner, and I think it looks better. Some people in the biblical days were cut, so it can't be that bad!

Technically speaking, the definition of "disfigured" is "having the appearance spoiled." I suppose you could say that ALL circumcisions "disfigure" the penis.
The definition of "defect" is "an imperfection in a bodily system."
So yeah, I agree.
The ONLY reasons to get a circumcision are cancer, gangrene, and frostbite. Everything else (like phimosis) is cureable.
My advice is to do a ton of research. A lot of people who have got it odne later in life say that the glans dries up. You may want to keep your foreskin retracted as much as possible, in order to get an idea of what it'll be like.
IF you do decide to go through with it, tell the doc that you want to keep as much as possible, especially the frenulum. If you get a ton of skin cut off, you can get a "pulling, stretching" feeling during erections which can be uncomfortable... look into it. As the penis expands, the foreskin slides down the shaft. Obviously, without that skin, there's nothing to slide down.
I'm not saying that all erections with a circumcised penis are painful. I'm saying that generally speaking, the more skin you get cut off, the more discomfort you can feel during large erections.

I was circumcised at birth so I can't recall pain but it might hurt for a week probably, but they would definitely give you pain medications at hospital and after a while, it would be like nothing changed (but your penis) XD

hello dustin -- first of all is this u - if so why do u want or need 2 have 2 be cut/
--- i have 2 very good friends (both brothers) who got cut. one was 13 and the other was like 15 may b 16. both had it done the same day. both were home the same day.
both had a local shot like a dentist gives to the penis. both said the operation did not hurt and only took about 15 to 20 from start to finish. both had stiches placed which had to be removed. i don't know how long be4 they had to have them out. i do know both had to watch what they did for a few days. both side the penis turn black and blue.
both said they had some small discomfort - both had to take oral medicaiton. one pill to make sure they did not have erections. and both are glad they had it done. i do not know the reason why they had it done. they r not jewish - so it might be medical reasons.

Of course having part of you body cut away will hurt. Duhhh. Please don't let them mutilate you like my family did me when I was a baby. Stay whole dude. I have no way of knowing but I bet masturbation is MUCH cooler if one is uncircumcised. I wish I had not been mutilated as an infant.

Well, I've read numerous testimonies from men who decided to get circumcised, and the surgery itself is not painful due to the anesthetics used to numb the pain. But the healing process is supposed to be very uncomfortable. It stress not painful, just very uncomfortable. Peeing is uncomfortable, wearing underwear & pants is uncomfortable, showering is uncomfortable, etc.
Oh yeah, the reason I read all those testimonies is because I've been planning on getting a circumcision when I'm older :)

You bring up allot of good points, but it kind of comes off as you are trying to be unbiased, but you are bias because you say you don't want to be cut. The fact is being cut is meant not only as a religious thing, but as a hygienic thing, because it is allot more healthy for your glans to be exposed to open air, because they dry. My cousin got a fungus down there from sports, because he wasn't cut. All of it is a personal preference thing if you are making the decision in your teens. As a baby, your parents are either doing it as a religious thing, or as again a hygiene thing. :P

Yes, babies feel the pain, but because they have not lingual understanding, they don't understand what is hurting, or to what extent. To them, it is no different from being hungry, or tired; all they know is there is something there, and they are not comfortable. It is hard to explain, but it is all psychological, pain isn't pain unless your brain understands it. EVERYTHING in your brain, every feeling, emotion or thought is associated with language. If you don't believe me, pinch yourself right now, and tell me you didn't think about the pain before, or while, you were feeling it. :P

Babies do hurt when it is done, my older brother had his son done and yes he cried a lot from it for maybe 30min from what my older brother said. However baby does not remember it and he will grow up not knowing any different.
I was circumcise as a baby and I am sure it hurt so bad, but I not remember it now so it makes no different to me if I hurt really bad during it or not.
