After reading an article on a doctor's ability to diagnose dyselxia due to the enormous nt of symptoms supposedly attributed to the condition.
Another professional suggested that dyselxia was a joke and was suggested by scholls to explain poor students or "stupid" kids. What is your view?
I personally believe that yes of course the condition is real, but is often over diagnosed along with other conditions like ADHD which can just be an excuse for a child to slip behind or kick off

I don't agree at all with that. I believe the condition is real, I'm also a sufferer of it. Yet, with the right help 99% of the time im an A student. Its never an excuse to slack off, unless of course the person themselves is using it as that. It can be over diagnosed but with the amount of different problems with the same signs as dyslexia it can be hard to distinguish at times from other problems.

One of the most influential Scientist of the 20th century also known as Albert Einstein, suffered from Dyslexia.
But of course, that did not hindered the functionality of the rest of the left brain.

I think the name is the problem with it.
E.G.
Down's Syndrome is a very famous condition, however there are different ways this condition can be expressed. Big differences include, cancer susceptability, Mongoloid appearance, dcreased mental capacity.
So what I'm sayng is that all these different conditions are lumped under one name, I feel the same with dyslexia, having a couple friends with dyslexia I realise what the "symptoms" (or w/e you want to call them) are. and I realise that they can be... overcome(?) it's just that some people blame their own unwillingness to learn on a condition they don't have.

I've read a paper on this (I know I'm sad for a teenager) and apparently it was autism which he suffered from which may be what caused him to be so focused and brilliant in his particular field, some Autism sufferers i know are brilliant at acting and speech giving but really not too bright in other areas

Yes, yes. There are a lot of disorders that makes people at other fields.
It is only based on which hemisphere the brain suffered. Is it the left or the right. Some become better in Art, and some will become better in Maths(both of which are abstracts).
Also, most of them will have weaker "speech" capabilities, and they express themselves better in written forms.

Yes, yes. There are a lot of disorders that makes people [better] at other fields.
This is what one of the points I tried to make this debate about....didn't really express it very well lol
It's that you can confuse symptoms of many mental conditions

Confusions comes because majority are not aware of differences. People tend to brand them into a single specific disorder.
But you know, the "symptoms" at times do overlap with different disorders.

Dyslexic, Gay, and Mentally Retarded kids are just going through a phase. They'll grow out of it eventually and realize they have to be a man of God.

Are going through a phase and eventually come out of it?
Well, according to our great Psychologists, like Sigmund and many other. They have a consensus, and that is that people that are suffering from the aforementioned status will never come out of it.
Especially Mentally retarded kids because their brain development are less progressive than the rest of us.
When they become adults, their brain is still that of a 6-9 year old. And I don't think they will grow out of it and eventually realize they have to be a man of God or whatever mumbo jumbo you have in store.

Is this a serious post? Because right now, I'm smelling a troll, which doesn't surprise me coming from you.
And I think that dyslexia is real. People can be very intelligent but just find it difficult to write and spell.

All of you suck at detecting sarcasm. Except Death, he was close.

We don't suck at it considering there was no give away that it was sarcasm.
We cannot hear any tone of voice.
Not the best place to be sarcastic.

I believe it is. People can excel even when having difficulties in reading or in other fields. What makes them excel is their total focus on a particular subject they are inclined to. It can be classified as an obsessive-compulsive disorder but can also be classified as a 'phase' if it's temporary.

I'd be careful about qouting the likes of Freud, it is widely believed that many of his theories are based on incomplete experiments or "modified" results. i know that many of his theories aren't studied in A-level Pyscology and when they are it's usually to discuss how not to reach conclusions and analyse data!
