No, but it certainly can ward off disparity.

I'm not looking for love right now. In fact, I'm more or less content not looking for it and waiting for it to find me, as it has before. You in no way speak for everyone, as I'll happily admit material things make me happy. I'd feel a lot better if I could afford a delicious Tim Hortons $10 breakfast every day.

I really like this quote. Kind of sums up my opinion on money and happiness.
Probably the very best thing my earnings have given me, though, is absence of worry. I have not forgotten what it feels like to worry whether you'll have enough money to pay the bills. Not to have to think about that any more is the biggest luxury in the world.
Money may not buy happiness, but it permits it. It's hard to be happy when you're living hand to mouth, worrying how you're gonna feed yourself or your kids.

Money can certainly buy happiness, but a lot of the time, it can be short-lived. Although material possessions can be one thing we would like, there will always be other things, like a nice job, days out, family and friends, etc.

Of course money can buy happiness, but real wealth is being rich in love. Being money rich is a luxury.

It can't buy happiness, but you will not be happy without positive cash flow!

money can make me happy but i dont expect any at all... i have some. i save it. but that's me. i rather be happy with someone or something i recieve (which money may have been used to do). but it doesn't usually buy my happiness. it does with my friends though. :/

I despise currency with quite a passion. So no, money doesn't do shit for me, it's the stuff it purchases that I'd like. Sadly you need money for those things though.

It doesn't neccessarily buy happiness but because of the socila positions we have put ourselves in the purchasing and holding of certain material goods can increase our happiness or atleast make it easier to be happy

Partly, yes. Money can buy happyness, as it can boost confidence, and material things can be good at cheering us up. But, money isn't everything, and happiness is usually only short-lived with money.

Not really, but it can buy things that provide happiness like cars and food (not to be materialistic but it's all I could think of) but usually it can't. Long-term happiness depends on you, if you want to accomplish something you want to; being in a perfectly pleasant environment (that doesn't exist in this world today however) or being contented of what you have and being hesitant to crave for other things.

Most people say Money never buys happiness.
The truth is, yes it can. Only for some people though. No need for explanation ;)
For me, i dont mind being dirt poor. I just need my music my art and my voice for happiness (:

My logic: How are you happy if you live in a cardboard box pulling tricks to get your next meal? If an Xbox makes you happy, then you require money to purchase it.

yeah! lol. money can buy happiness but not always. most of my happiness is not from the joys of my electronics or the items i have that required money to get. but some of 'em like my phone and my computer is a branch to allow me to recieve happiness. my phone lets me call and text my friends and keep in contact with them which always makes me happy. the computer give me the freedom to do as i want on this site which has been a part of my life since last year. :) so yeah i guess money buys some of my happiness. sad to admit though. :/

Oh yeah it can, I'm very happy when my rent is paid.
I think its funny that most of these answers are from people that live with their parents, you guys dont have to work your ass off for little money which provides a place to live or food in your belly.

Depends in what is "happiness" for you and where u live. If one live in a city, in a apartment, when there are bills ( electricity, water, phone). Then one needs money to pay for these. Then the food. Food is imported from the farms and ppl have to pay for that. People ride cars, and gasoline costs, children go to school, and they have tuition fees to pay. :P
If you leave in a farm, and you grown your own food and share the supplies with other ppl sharing the supplies, then you don't have to work for food. So there is no need for money to buy it. But then one need to share the harvest. So work is needed instead of money, and money is the product of work. So that could be an exchange of labour.
But the farm requires pesticide, water and other things. And those cost money.
If you are a kid and play with your xbox all day and all night and eat like a whale but you are not working, then your parents are working and paying for all the junk you eat. and the games you play. So they need money.
If you leave in a tribe in middle of africa, with your crops and the other villagers have their own crops and everyone shares them in the local market, and there is a tribe doctor and a tribe leader and ppl around. You will not need money.
If happinnes for you is based upon american material values: having a nice car, a nice house, nice clothes, etc. Then you need a job, you will get paid and can afford all those things, but after buying them you will not satisfied, becasue the senses are impossible to satisfy to 100%.:eek: so there always will be and "empty" within you. Some ppl satisfy thta "emptyness" with Religions, some with hobbies, etc.
Now the last week 40 us billionairs said that they are going to donate half their fortunes to charity. Why do u think they would do that? Maybe they them happy helping ppl who need health, education, food, entertainment.
:whoops:
I think happinnes relies on each one views of reality.
Not so long ago, they made a Happiness Index for the countrys.
Denmark rated first :D:

"Money Dosent buy happiness" Clearly that person didn't know where to shop *flips hair*
Lol just kidding. It cant buy happiness on its own, but with true love, money will defiantly make you more happy.
Or You can spend it on drugs and compress your sadness and make artificial happiness
either way
