retainers :(

my retainers hurt my mouth and make me want to gag
this sounds really gross but saliva is collecting at the top of my mouth where the plate of the retainer is. i got them recently and just want to know if this horrid feeling goes away. i don't want to slurp constantly it's rude!
please help!

yeah I had retainers too. I think it goes away eventually. Do you take them off when you eat?

I know you'll get used to them and the pain goes away but idk about the slurpin thing cuz I have the invisalign retainers that goes on all your teeth there's no metal or the plate thing that goes in the top or the bottom of your mouth

i take them out to eat.
i am eating a lot now as an excuse to take them out
they are called hawley retainers.

Don't worry it'll go away eventually. I've had my retainer for quite a while now. To ease the pain use some orajel (Its like the stuff the dentists use to numb your mouth), Don't take them out constantly or you'll not get used to them and don't eat with them in. That's really all you can do for now. Don't worry it'll ease off soon.

I lost mine after a month. Never got them replaced. My teeth look good but not unnaturally good, which is what I didn't want. Perfectly straight teeth scare the shit out of me. If it bugs you a lot just "lose" them. I found mine in my room a few months ago. (I actually lost them) I just threw them out, no use putting them in now.

Yes, It will go away, I have retainers right now! You get used to them after a while lol
