it's not responding every 10 seconds, it's annoying me! Restarting my computer does not help. it crashed today
and no, I'm not sticking to Google Chrome. I use Google Chrome for certain sites, Firefox for other sites. I still like Firefox. it's just being stupid all of the sudden.
I need to fix it somehow :( help?

Try reinstalling Firefox (to the updated version) and if it doesn't work search on google for an old version and try it

*Tears of joy.*
Google Chrome rarely has the problems I had with Firefox.

Some things you'd want to check:
- Disable plugins and other add-ons: Not every Firefox addon is well-written (remember the mantra: Crap Is Everywhere...), and some can cause this issue. Diagnose by: disabling every add-on, then re-enable one by one until you find the offender(s);
- Check your antivirus settings: I stumbled on that one recently and it took me a while to figure out what was going on. Most antivirus install filtering systems on the browser, and sometimes they behave strangely/badly. Diagnose by: check in the Task Manager if the antivirus process isn't taking a lot of CPU time whenever Firefox lags;
- Check JavaScript: Some pages contain poorly written/supported javascript that can create a lot of havoc. Diagnose by: try using something like the NoScript Addon to disable JavaScript, and check if things go better;
- Third-party toolbars and other ad/malware: a LOT of programs offer to install custom toolbars in the browser that are usually more of a hassle than anything useful. Quite some of them also behave like or actually are malwares/adwares that trouble firefox's working. Diagnose by: Use an utility like spybot to check your system (I also strongly suggest uninstalling those bars anyway, most of the time, they are just stupid toys with little value).
I think it would be also interesting to check if it isn't Flash or Java that create issues - those two are common offenders for browser stutterings. I'd suggest uninstalling those, reboot, and check if that doesn't work any better.
Finally, if you're using Windows, I'd also suggest making a test under its Failsafe with Network mode - if the browser behaves correctly under Failsafe, then it means one of the running process in Windows is ruining the fun. In that case, you can for example use CCleaner to check which programs are started at Windows launch and disable them until you find the offender.
Mmm... If none of the above works, then I'm out of ideas ;)

Goodle Chrome and Firefox are both owned by the same company.
They dont want people using firefox anymore so they purposely dont fix bugs so people will transfer
