I believe that we should be able to post our emails on here. Some people don't want to openly discuss tips over threads for everyone to see. Now that pming is close to impossible to use we need a place to open up. Such as email.

It is for the safety of all members that one can not hand out their im addresses as vt is not a dating site but a place to get help and there are many ways to get help without exchanging pms and emails.

You can find a person's email under the tab on their profile that says "Send Message." You're not allowed to ask for someone's email or any other contact information, but you are allowed to get it from that drop-down tab.

there are a lot of threads on this, it's for everyone's safety. no emails given out, they are in everyone's profile - but some do not give their email
@myskias - there are other methods to talk to someone that's suicidal

Well when you get 100 posts you can do that.
If there is something you don't want to say in public, then you probably shouldn't even be talking about it anyways.
discuss tips
This is most likely against site rules so +1 for PM restrictions.
This is an example why there are restrictions on PMs for newer members.

All I have to say is No.
If someone is suicidal on the website, then the only way you're going to find out if by a thread that they've created, Vm's, the shoutbox or the chatroom. All of these methods allow you to contact the person, so... why would being able to Pm help in that situation?

As has been said, there are plenty of places to list your contact information on your profile. This is not Myspace or some dating site: this is a forum. If you participate on this site as it's meant to be used (i.e. posting and interacting on the site itself), you will find that this rule will not get in your way. It is aimed at those that use this site primarily as a place to meet other people for chatting and contact offsite. If that's what you're looking to do, the fact that you are prevented is precisely the point of the rule. If that's not what you're looking to do, this rule shouldn't get in your way.
