I think that ALL games on this forum (including the members diaries) should be moved to the VT arcade, instead of allowing users to make them in their diary. All these games out there now are allowing people to acquire a large number of post, in a very short time, just by posting on the games while not really contributing anything to the forums by making meaningful posts.

I would support that on the whole, but there is an issue (which I know from my silly rep game earlier today) as to how to moderate games that go wrong or where people dont stick to the rules of the game. I dont think staff would want this to be added to their duties, they have enough to do with more serious issues, so in these cases its better that the person that started the game can moderate their own thread.

There could be a case for having seperate game moderators just for VT Arcade to get around that, my guess is thats unlikely to happen.

Games used to not be allowed in diaries and I think that was a good thing. It's really just spam that seriously inflates people's post counts. I'll make sure to mention something to Ant and Steph.

Nick, would it be possible for the mods to just make the games in the members diaries not count for posts like they have for the Arcade?

There was leigh's diary, which was a game dairy forum, all games should be there. If anyone posts one in the dairy that isn't allocated for games, the threads deleted and they lose the whole post count. Though, I think that maybe diaries shouldn't have a post count that way they can post whatever the fuck they want, but their only in it for the post count. Maybe a month trial to see the difference between who posts and who doesn't since the post count is off.

Thats beyond the mods, only the admins can set that sort of thing, I believe the way vbulletin works post count can be set either on or off at forum/subforum level but not on individual threads.

I think the diaries should retain their post count, only the games which so many people are spamming.
I kinda of like the idea of the month trial thing.

That's what I meant... lol the Admins.
Ahh okay.

Well my diary doesn't have any games in but I still post in two or three different threads a couple of times a day, if the post count was to be removed from all diaries then I'd lose a hell of a lot of my post count and I don't think that's fair on anyone. Some people do actually have diaries that are designed to help people and offer advice.

I'm not sure, I think that the current limit on 'spam' or 'game' threads is fine, that way there isn't too many but there is still some floating around.

You could make certain diaries without lost count, and the ones that don't spam have there's. That way in a sense it's a punishment, because they'd lose all their posts, and they probably wouldn't ever post again as the post count is off. They wont use the VT Arcade because post count isn't on, that's why it's in diaries instead. I think that a few diaries need to be made post count free, I wont mention them as it's pretty obvious who's diaries they are/the members that are doing it

I locked my games in my forum, so no more games in my diary
