I am having trouble with my flash drive. around four weeks ago i needed to transfer something from my iBook to my PC. I was amazed how my flash drive didnt show up on either computer and the red light did not show up. I have a 4GB Lexar flash drive. It is only a few months old.

Before i got this one, i had the same one before that. It did the same thing but stopped working in one day. I took it back to Target, and Target replaced it and now it is happening again.

I searched on google and said go in your device manager on your PC, go to Universal Serial Bus controllers, and it should show up. I did that and it does not show up.

How would i find it unrecognized on a Mac like it would on Device Manager on a PC?

I do not want to buy a new one cause it will be my third one this year. If not, i will have no other choice but to buy a new one.

Any advice please.

Now onto my Internet problem. Around a month and a half ago, my dad moved the office computer to the basement of my house and also the internet router.

When that happened, i didnt realize until sometime last month my computer in my room doesnt have internet any more, thus, that is why i need help with my flash drive to transfer things to my iBook to PC cause i cant download anything on the computer in my room.

I have a wireless router, but my PC does not find it. Im guessing it doesnt have a wireless card or whatever. I tried to set a connection on my iBook to tether, it didnt work, i tried to tether the WiFi from my iPod touch, it didnt work.

To my surprise is how an old laptop from 2005 and current day macs and pc can pick up a wifi connection, but a 2007 pc cant. Sounds stupid, right. And my iBook has bluetooth but my pc doesnt, so i cant tether my wifi via bluetooth.

Is there any way i could get the internet connection going from my basement to the computer in my room without any kind of connection cables? Cause i dont think my dad would like to drill holes throughout the entire house, lol.

I am also concerned because my iBook cant handle programs that my PC can and they are not compatible with my iBook.

I had a solution where i would just download those programs on my ibook and transfer from the flash drive to my pc, ok, i dont have a problem with that, but my flash drive isnt working.

Any kind of help is appreciated. thanks so much

The only way you could do that is with some kind of wireless. Though it may possibly be a problem with the wireless router itself, have you had a look to see if its properly connected etc?

As for the flashdrive, if its an internal problem where the flashdrive stops working it won't show up on the pc. There's not really anything you can do about that tbh unless you take it to an electronics place and see if they can rescue the stuff on there already onto a blank disk or something.

thanks. and the connection is working. if it wasnt, i would be on here right now xD lol. my ipod , ibook, and my sisters laptop can pick up the connection with all bars, or signal strength bars. i say all bars and works just fine.

and i cant find any other way to tether the wifi connection from a device to my pc unless i have to BUY another router. I bought the wireless router because my dad said: Its your ipod touch, you want the internet on it right, so you buy the router.

That was back in 2008 when i had my first gen ipod touch but broke.

im stuck in a dilema

It's most probably a problem with the actual computers ability to use wireless, have you checked settings and things? Or possibly the computers and things are out of range of the wireless router
