Why do people always feel like they did something bad after they masturbate?

The majority of people, including myself say that they feel like they did something bad after they're done even though they know they haven't. What is the reason for this?

The shame felt after an orgasm, whether you were masturbating or having sex, is caused by the sudden drop in the chemical dopamine in the brain; dopamine, the chemical that registers pleasure, floods the brain leading up to and during an orgasm. However, after the orgasm, the levels of dopamine suddenly drop back to normal, this sudden drop from a high, gives the feeling of a low, IE the shame. An orgasm is like a natural way of getting high, that has no negative health effects; as with every high, there is a low that follows. There really is no way to keep yourself from feeling this shame, just to work around it.

I think its because your trying to hide it from everyone. its not like you can go masturbating in your living room. So when your doing something so secretive it makes you think that your hiding it because if its bad.
Also chatholics made it seem like your going to hell if you do it which is INCORRECT.

Also you feel bad afterwards because when your masturbating your not really thinking of what your doing.

I never feel bad afterwards. I sometimes imagine men to it makes me a little grossed out when im done, but i never feel guilty.
