How did you first hear about puberty?

My friends, although i dont think we knew it was called puberty. I think it was more that, one of my friends had heard how girls get periods so we all totally freaked ourselves out thinking about blood and stuff, and all these horror stories about what happens as you get older lol. Its funny to look back on though. We really didn't have a clue. :D . Hehe!

9 does sound really young :? . But i remember watching a program about it on t.v and they were all panicking about how children were going through puberty as young as 4. I think they thought it might have been something to do with diet and nutrition :? Not too sure myself.
It was bad enough at 12.

Sorry, I didn't mean it was common they just said puberty for preteens was on the increase. There was defo something about 4 year olds though cause all the doctors didn't know what to do - whats new lol j/k. :D

boognish, did you really need to insult me, you are reverting to a 4 year old, MOST girls start menstruation at ABOUT 105 pounds, some think they started it, but its actually something where they DONT have any eggs and just a lil bit of blood n stuff comes out. im sure there are MANY different ideas about it, but a LOT of things ive seen and read about it have stated things in about that range, ok boognish? i cam eback here and everyones all fine and dandy and you go insulting me! :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x

I believe Boog is right. It has been proved that weight is not a factor. It's the genes that trigger the homrones.

well, yah got me there about the exact thing, but in actuality is about, and thats merely the average of girls. weight is a factor in menstruation because the body needs enough fat to nurture a child if one is concieved.

that is after the girl has been mentrating and has left peuberty. getting the period isnt a problem, when she reaches 30 and weighs 90 pounds she has a problem. also yes the weight will afect the birth of the child, but she can still have one. her body wont go, wait your not heavy enough no more baby for you. the menstral cycle is based on hormones. and the hormone is not affected by weight. and sarah, i meant that girls start changing, like height, weight, and other things. periods usually begin around late 9 and late 13
