Something that annoys me about other gamers is when they couple characters together that don't belong together, the original characters did not put together, and never have an romantical interactions with each other at all during the game.

For you FF fans out there. Re-play the game. Nowhere in the game or the movie does it hint at a romantical relationship between Cloud and Tifa. Cloud and Tifa are not together, do not wind up together, and have no romantic contact whatsoever. They are simply old and dear friends.

Don't even get me started with the yaoi fans. If the creators want Sora and Riku together they would have them together. You are not a matchmaker. They are not perfect for each other. Call me irritable, call it a pet peeve, but this annoys me. Anyone else?

No, not really. It's fanfiction. It's there for people to play around with the characters. It only bothers me when it's poorly written or when the coupling makes no sense. Like if someone wanted to write a fanfiction putting Sora and Maleficent together. Unless they can give me a damn good reason for that to happen, it's gonna bug me.

Oh god no.

I know some people who could probably write a dam good fanfiction with that pairing. Thing is, you need to make it believable. I read an amazing Hermione/Draco fanfic the other day. It was believable because of how it was done. If you build things gradually, you can do a lot with pre-existing characters. I know people who could write an amazing Sora/Maleficent fanfic, and it'd be terrific. Non-cannon pairings work, but they have to be done carefully.

Pairings shouldn't happen at all. No matter how good the writer. If they're good at writing they can make their own character and not rip off other peoples'.

But people enjoy working with pre-established characters. It's more enjoyable, and allows the reader to see the character in their head more quickly. It also requires less exposition, as the characters are already known.
