I put it in the ROTW because well, it might turn out as a debate...about the Islamic veil...


so what do you think about those veils the Islamic women wear...and about the French parliament possibly (or not) banning them

I personally agree with this part of the article

There are also human rights considerations, and legal experts warn the broad scope of the law banning the veil in all public places as opposed to state institutions could be overturned by the constitutional court.

Amnesty International has said a ban would "violate the rights to freedom of expression and religion".

If women want to wear veils to show their faith in Islam and wish to continue with their traditions, I don't think the French Parliament should ban their customs. The veils aren't hurting anybody.

I agree, the veils don't appear to cause any harm. I could see the arguement with national safety (alot can be hidden behind a veil) but surely there are many unoffending solutions to that problem.

However, there are alos many different types of veils and I don't see why the women cannot use a less covering veil.

yes i agree with u. they have no right to force them except if they were doing something wrong.
