hmmm I was born in Canada but I don't have much memory of it. however my parents got citizenship almost right away, but when we moved to the US........12 years, still we didn't get our citizenship.

I think it depends but.....I'm going with Canada, even though I don't live there

Learn to spell. Umm they are vastly different nations, your question is to broad to give a specific answer.

Your spelling too.

'question is to broad' = 'question is too broad'

I'll go for US

Really? Are you serious right now? There is a difference between
"witch is the beter country
wats the better country i say canada"
and a minor grammatical mistake.

Sorry, I didn't mean to offend you, I just saw the funny side of your criticizing another member and then making a silly spelling mistake yourself.

I think the U.S is better because, frankly, we kick Canada's ass in everything except hockey.

Im sorry, "witch is the beter country"...yea i fixed that.

I have to say it's Canada, the people are more satisfied with their lives. Even though Canada is weaker on other aspects, they are still way better in keeping their people happy and blooming. My sister lives there and still she doesn't get homesick much, so I know she's happy.

Neither. It's pointless to debate unless we could all agree on which specific factors make one country better than another.

You two aren't thinking about this very thoroughly:

Canada sucks because they gave us Justin Beiber....BUT they're also smar because they got rid of him and stuck him with us :/

because this guy got it completely right. :P

Ever notice how you guys got Avril Lavigne, Celine Dion, Justin Bieber, Nickelback... when we realize how terrible an artist is, we just send 'em down south.

Neither. It's pointless to debate unless we could all agree on which specific factors make one country better than another.

This is exactly right. "Better" is based on criteria, and everyone probably has at least somewhat different criteria.

Having gone to school in America for the past 3 years after growing up in Toronto, I have the following thoughts:

Personally, my criteria end up making me think they're about equal. I think Canada is much better-governed and that America has far more dysfunctional money-focused politics. Similarly, America's political discourse wastes tons of time having everyone at each others' throats over dumb social arguments - in Canada, we skip those because we have largely settled all the big questsions like abortion and gay marriage to such a widely accepted extent that there's basically no point in anyone disagreeing. A corollary to my opint of view on that is obviously that I think that Canada has a far better respect for many human rights (except free speech, we'll get there) than America.

I think that many people in America have a better attitude about getting ahead than Canadians. I tend to find that many Americans I meet are more motivated in that regard, though there are certainly vast segments of both countries' populations that just don't care much. That ties in also to the generally more common sentiment of self-reliance in America, which is something I tend to like. I also like America's geography better. We've got tons of space, and while there's beautiful natural wonders, at a certain point you can only see so much frozen tundra before you wish there were a little more climactic variation. I would love to live in Manhattan or one of LA's nicer cities.

So generally? I like both. I'll probably live in both, if I can. Take the best points of both and you'd have a superior country that I probably wouldn't take any other over.

i say Canada, since the united states gave the world Jonas brothers and miley cyrus >.>

Canada. Why? Because the people are loving and caring. Even if we dont know eachother we care.

I was watching an episode of kenny vs spenny (competition between 2 men)
and the competiton was who can get more people mad at them.

Spenny held up a sign in toronto saying "women have no rights"
and a group of MEN crowded him and riped up the paper.

Gay people are extremely accepted, so are all people of any race.

Canada For ever!

I am not going to vote in this poll because I don't feel that one country is "better" than another. However, I support the United States because I am a citizen.

i honestly don't know, so I didn't vote. atm I'm holidaying in Boston and i really like the U.S but for someone from Ireland it really is damn hot. South Canada looks very similar to the U.S except it would geographically be colder so Canada sounds nice whilst I'm crowded around the a/c.
I've never been to Canada so it may be completely different from what i imagine, but i probably would end up in the U.S for the thought of cheaper living (as long as there's crude oil it'll always be cheaper there.)

I can't quite tell which country that is addressed to, but Olympic winning countries have generally been measured around the world by numbers of golds won. Silver and bronze medals aren't winning, they're placing. This was even the case in the US for a long time - and it still is essentially everywhere else. So Canada won the Olympics.

Hmm. Those two nations are way too broad in differences to be compared. Canada gave us Jim Carrey, William Shatner, Alanis Morisette (she has issues). The U.S offers George Clooney, Sigorney Weaver, Slipknot (IOWA PRIDEEE). I can`t really make a decision, but considering Canada offers Justin Bieber, the U.S wins.

The US, they got a black prez for one, yes they accept singers from canada that should have never started a career in singing, but the nation is changing. I Still cant hear the us over my health care benefits but I believe obama will change that eventually. anyways without further-due I say US is totally sickly awesome.

i say canada, why you say well US people are stuck up, snot nosed brats from my experience, also materialistic... i like canada cuz people are more and you wouldnt have to worry much about the government starting fights with other countries plus they can watch all of americas failures from the comfort of their living room... US is a fail and will either move to England or Canada when i get older

Patriotism is just nationalism for the deluded.
Why lump millions of people under a single title when we should work together to make anywhere the best place in the world....yea a little utopian. so shoot me

The only time I've been to Canada was for ten days four years ago, and I've been in the US for three months. Horrible basis of comparison, but I don't have a second thought when I say Canada is better. I'm having my wedding here, then I'm going to do everything within my power to convince my fiancé to move to Europe.

Why is Canada better? Do I even have to say this? No, I shouldn't. I won't even get into it, because I'll be here all day long.

And the Justin Bieber thing... really? You're going to judge a country on a 16 year-old pubescent boy? Okay, well, US, you have Miley Cyrus, the cause of half my headaches.

This thread is over two months old. :locked:

I voted the United States of America by the way, even though you'd have to take Diplomacy, Government, Military power, Economic situations, etc. into consideration in comparing both. Question is too broad.
