it seems like a lot of people play video games these days. does any one here still play computer games like games on the internet - games on sites like Nitrome, Hallpass, Newgrounds etc? I don't play video games but internet/computer games. used to play Age of Empires but my dad threw away the disc :( (And I was doing quite well in AoE!)

Just wondering :P

"does any one here still play computer games" *cringe*

Computer games are video games, and yes I do. I play all my games on my PC. Call of Duty, Half Life, Left 4 Dead, AOE you name it.

Ever once in a while I play some games on a game site. But for the most part I play the games you have to buy and install.

I play Modern Warfare 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Command & Conquer, GTA IV, Flight Simulator X. I have many other games like Starcraft, Diablo 2, Sims 3, Transformers and Mercenaries. But I don't play those anymore.

i still play Star Wars Empire at War: Forces of Corruption (the origninal one stinks cuz it came out back in 05 i think) on my Laptop.

Plus i play EVE Online, an MMO. The cool thing is that CCP, the producers of EVE are making a FPS for the Xbox and i believe the PS3 too. And get this: the Game, Dust 514 is set in the EVE Universe, in which you fight for control of planets. and it links up to EVE, i'm hoping that when the balance of power changes on Dust, it will show up different in EVE.

On the internet, I run around Gaia Online and play zOMG MMO that they have.

As for games... that's a list I won't mention.

I don't consider....well those games you play aren't the kind I was talking about. I mean like puzzle, matching, shooting games etc. I guess no one really plays those anymore. just games that are violent (well some) and what most people like my age >_>

I used to play a lot of Roller Coaster Tycoon. Just kinda stopped playing after a while. I still play internet games frequently.

I used to play Age of empires, and I used to play Unreal Tournament (G.O.T.Y.E.) I used to make maps and weapons for that game.
Now I sometimes play Empire Earth and I don't play it that oftin anymore.

I have lots of games on my PC. I play Rome: Total War (it's old but still packs a punch when you install mods) CSS, Empire at War, doom III and so forth. I have a fairly old computer but still, I love it so much. :)

I think since you can do more with gaming consoles these days, and unless you have a computer built for gaming, computer games have had thier day. (nowadays regular computers cant run most high-end games, my old one would not run eve, but my new one does fin with the graphics on medium.

Of course! I play Sims 3 (The Sims sucked, but it created a revolution. The Sims 2 was cool, but I got Sims 3 and abandoned it because it was newer.) and Spore (occasionally).

All of you are n00bs.

Doom ftw. That is some old school shit. Written for DOS 6.0 and Windows 3.1.

Err... I don't play a lot of violent games like FPSs - I suck at those, and I find them quite boring most of the time.

Computer games I like: strategy games like Blitzkrieg, AOE, Command & Conquer, Europa Universalis III, Sins of a Solar Empire, Hearts of Iron III. (ok, ok, most of those are about war, which is a violent activity...). Adventure games: the Sam & Max series, for example, are one of the main reasons why I learned English ;).

Ahum. Doom? That's soo next-gen! I used to play the ancient "Commander Keen" and "Capt'n Comic" platformers (discovered thanks to an old floppy collection from my father ;) ). And I still play "Sam & Max Hit the Road" and "Railroad Tycoon", both of which caused me some trouble to run on nowadays machines (ended up using DOSBox). Ah, and I still have to finish "Dune II", while I think SimCity 2k is the best of its serie.

Makes me like an antiquities fan, no? ;)

Oh, and BTW, I've tried to run Dos 4 + Windows 3 under VirtualBox, but I had trouble with the video drivers. Maybe you got an idea on how to do it?

I play everything on my computer now. I have put a lot of money in it so I use it exclusively now.

I love you. :D Even though the only RTS(series) in that list that I know of(except for Command and Conquer.) and play is AoE. RTS's ftw. My friend's brother thinks AoEII is a terrible game, when in fact, it's a superior game.

Lol Matt, DOOM is a game that is only fun with Co-op, which was forced into the 360 port of it. :P(Yes, you can play DOOM1 on the 360)

You. Are. God.

If I had a floppy drive, I'd be playing more games than I do. I actually have no clue on running Dos 4 with Windows 3. So I'm no help there. Anything Windows 2000 on up is my specialty.

If I remember well, there was also a port of Doom on the NDS - Never tried it though, but it could be fun trying it someday (though I'm doubtful about using the damn stylus for it ;) ).

In the above list, EU3 and HOI3 are closer to board wargames than RTS ala AOE. And I realize I forgot "Space Empires V" in my list, though I haven't played it a lot yet ;). Blitzkrieg I love for a couple reasons: you cannot build new units yourself (so you have to be careful not to send your forces too fast to get butchered), there are tons of custom maps available, and it is pretty damn easy to find in game shops for 5€ :).

Oh, and I would probably agree with your brother about AoE2 - doesn't beat the pants out of StarCraft :D.

And damn, I forgot the venerable Warcraft II (and III)... Those I have spent lots of time in networked games with friends ;).

You. Are. God.
Arg! Don't hurt my modesty like that! :D

I don't have a floppy drive anymore (or rather, the one I still have is broken). But the floppies binary images were copied long ago on a pair of CDs, and those that had become unreadable with time, we downloaded from abandonware websites like Home of the Underdogs or Lost Treasures. DOSBox does wonders to make those run for sure. Apart that I had to dig out ancient Arcane DOS Treatises to make some of them work - looks like back then, recovering 20KB of memory was a prized skill! :)

Psh, I watched him play Starcraft. It looks boring. :P I don't see how people are addicted. :O I watched him play Warcraft II, too, which looks more fun than Starcraft. Lol.

I played AoEII for the first time in years today because I thought I lost the disc, when in fact I had it, but was installing it improperly somehow(it was really stupid when I realized it earlier), but AoE is better than Starcraft. Haha.
