i have this friend ive known since forever. we were even born on the same day! when i moved away we grew apart but i'm back for the summer and he calls me all the time. i dont mind and i still love him as a brother but even my own bro doesn't bug me this much. and when we're on the phone he says: anyways have you heard? and im like ""HAVE I HEARD WHAT? we don't go to to the same school anymore so i don't know all of your new friends. "" he says this every 5 minutes. i don't know how to be normal friends with him again you know what i mean? it's like we don't have anything in common anymore and we don't know each other. I'm meeting him soon and don't know how to make small talk. or should i not make small talk at all?

Best friends tend to lose their connections over time when they don`t live in the same area or go to the same school. Since you both will be meeting him and are worrying about small talk, just talk normally like you would when you lived in the same area. In reality, nothing has changed, except for location. Be yourself, and have fun!
