i wasnt going to mention this but i just wanted to know if this has happened to any of you guys or did it just happen to me. i left vt for about a month or maybe even longer because a member here who said he was my friend and said he was a kid (but i think he is an adult) started emailing me and saying all kinds of sick stuff and asking me to cam with him and i dont even have a cam. he kept begging me for our address and phone number and when i didnt give it to him he got all pissy and said he knows where i live anyways.

anyways it freaked me out pretty bad and i just decided to stay away from vt but after a while i didnt hear from him anymore and i remembered how man cool people were here and i decided not to let one freak ruin this place for me and im glad i did because i missed you guys and this place.

anyways i was just wondering if i am alone or has that kind of stuff ever happened to any of you? i havent seen him on here since ive been back so maybe he has been banned or something.

I cant say this has happened to me here (as I am new here) but there are creepy people out there and we just have to be careful. I have been on sites where people want to you C2C (cam to cam) with them and this old guy wanted to see me... not happening. Just be careful and avoid creepers like that dude you said. And you did the right thing by not telling him about your personal stuff, that is usually a bad idea. Also, don't give Facebook stuff, that gives out LOADS of info :)

I'm pretty sure this has happened to other people before fyi, so don't think it only happens to you. There are pervs everywhere, just be careful!

If the guy was from VT then you should have taken a screenshot and sent it to a Mod :) just for future reference.

Anyway, don't let one jerk stop put you off VT. There may be a couple of foul people here from time to time but we're mostly pretty cool people.

There are always perverts on here. I used to get a whole bunch of them, but I ignored it and threatened to get them banned. But everyone else is right. This is a great place with incredible people. Don`t let one sick perve ruin it.

If you ever get anything like that in a PM use the report button straight away. If its on msn or another IM take a screen shot and save a log of the conversation and then mail it to one of the mods or admins.

I'd recommend if anyone does that again, block and/or report them immediately. I'd also advise you not to accept people on social networking sites that you don't know (cause if that guy has your email, he's ultimately looking to find out info through other sites and could even set up a fake profile and then friend request you via that), they could get a lot of personal information and possibly add all your friends/relatives as well.

It is always important to be careful on the Internet. If you suspect something bad or are worried about someone you talk to from here - especially if your worry is based on private conversations you have had - report them to the staff with all the evidence you can, and we will take care of things.

Per the rules and as a moderator you should ALWAYS report ANY suspicious activity to ANY staff member.
In this case you didn't.

You need to realize that we don't just sit there banning people and being rule Nazis for nothing, we are trying to protect our members and our site and by reporting people, we are able to rid our site of overage people, people that engage in illegal activities, and other people that post threats to the site.

So it is still not too late to report but just remember that you should always contact a staff member if you feel your safety is compromised.

Lets keep in mind also that any form of picture trading and camming is against the rules and anyone that even asks to do that should be reported also.

its my fault for not reporting him but i just freaked and didn't even think about saving logs or anything like that but i accept the responsibility for just being stupid and not thinking right. I have learned a lot from all this but you guys are right, im not going to let one jerk ruin vt for me because i really really like it here. vt is about the only place i have where i can find answers and feel like i can be myself.

i want everyone to know that three mods have contacted me regarding my initial post and i want to publicly thank them for caring so much about me and the members of vt
and i want to apologize to them for not doing what I should have when it happened. I think its cool that the mods care so much about member safety and that convinces me even more to stay right here. vt has to many awesome members and i have made some really good friendships here, so I am grateful.

I think as everyone has said here before, if anyone comes across something like this, whether its happened to themselves or someone else, report it. It doesn't matter how small it may seem to you, it will always be taken seriously.

yes i have had similar problems as well, asking where i live and obsessing constantly saying they want to meet and generally just stalking really. this has happened twice to me, we became really good on frends then for some reason they got really attached and almost like controlling. it was really hard to talk them down and a little scary in general how they got so attached like that.

random people ask me about webcaming all the time too it seems and just dont give up so i block them. im on govteen too and its the same there, im more carefull than i used to be.

i really hope everything works out for you cuz this is a kool place and personally i have learned some things and made good frends here.
