I'm not really sure the title of this makes sense. Basically i'm talking about the sort of mental development of being a teenager, not the physical side of things.

Well, i'm 18, and its taken me a very long time to get used to being a teenager. I haven't done any of the 'teenager' things, like dating, smoking (not that I want to smoke), drinking (well, i have had alcohol, but not got drunk), learning to drive etc. Maybe its got something to do with my upbringing, maybe not.

Its only recently that I have got used to being a teenger, which is just typical as now my friends are starting to think they are adults now. I say 'think' because they are still immature. Its just really annoying, I feel so out of place. I don't enjoy parties or socialising, but i have started to during the past month or so.

My friends are talking about universities, driving, getting a job etc, but all i want to do is have a laugh and play computer games. I feel like I should be a 14 year old.

So, does anyone else have this feeling?
Thanks :)

I'm the same, though mines down to Aspergers syndrome. I've done a lot of those things but mentally im still about 14. My parents still do a lot for me that they should've had to stop doing when i was about 14. Some people are just like that, don't worry.

I'm in a similar position as Aaron. *high fives fellow Aspie*

What I've found is when I'm home/ around my parents it is a lot worse. For example, when I'm home I will not make my own PB&J sandwiches. One of my parents has to make it. I'll skip eating before I make my own. I'll also let a lot more things go until they push the issue.

When I'm living at my dorm, however, I find it a lot easier to force myself to do more "mature" things. If possible, try putting yourself in a position where you don't have a choice. That might help.
