Does anyone know a quick and easy way to some how not have to use a CD for a game?

ie: I'm sick of having to use a CD to play Doom 3. So i want to be able to put it fully on my computer so I dont have to use the CD.

Here's what my roommates did:

They bought an external terabyte drive, put all of the games on there, and hooked it up to the Wii.

I imagine as long as your computer has a USB drive, that you'll still be able to hook the external drive up to the computer and select the games off of the drive to play. You may have to look into it a bit to make sure that it'll work, but I'm pretty sure that it would work the same as with our Wii and external drive.

The external drive won't come too cheap though, last I saw they go for $90 and up.

There are some "cracks" or patches that you can search on google for no cd loader

Wiis are different to a PC game. Wiis run fully of a disk. Where PC games install the bulk of the information needed. I have a external HD already. I shall google CD crack thingys soon.

It shouldn't be. I paired good money for the game, I didn't pay to HAVE to use a bloody cd every time I go to play it. But if it is. This thread will be locked and/or deleted.

PC games don't just install parts of the files, they install all of them. It's just that people from the gaming company don't want theirs to be pirated so they require you to insert the original CD for verification.

Use an IMG or ISO of that game, if you don't want to download no cd patch. They are technically cracks, no cd patches, that is.

Owning an ISO for you own usage is legal. Distributing is illegal. Heck, even a backup CD is legal! But I must remind you to not to distribute it.

You might want to try Nero img burn, or Alcohol 52% (http://www.free-downloads.net/programs/Alcohol_52__Free_Edition) trial version. There are hundreds of similar programs to make a real CD into a virtual CDs.

I play my C&C general this way. It is faster too. But I fear that you run into the same problem. If you do, refer back to me, alright.

Before doing any of that, check the website and see if it has a downloadable version of it. Pretty obvious but...
