Critical Error

a friend of mine is an admin for a forum, it uses phpBB. but recently bout 3 days ago it like crashed and is now only showing critical error. heres a link: http://www.forums.anigaminggrounds.webplanethost.com/ im just wondering if there is anything that can be done to fix it....

Tell him to check the database username and password in config.php. That is in the main forum directory.

hmmm... sure its not an sql error? thats what it looks like to me. double check on the database's name, varibles, and values to see if everything is set correctly.

It's got to be SQL, what else would have a database, especially in phpbb

yup! if worst comes to worst and he doesnt know how to reset the variable, I'd say just reinstall it and back up your database weekly

Hmm, there is a vbulletin hack that will back up the database every three hours (can be changed). I'm sure there is one for phpbb. But that isn't the matter, it's config.php he messed up. That's where the DB username and DB password is held.
