It all started when I began deleting files to free up some space. I downloaded software called "CCleaner" which was supposed to help delete unneeded files. It worked for the most part, except a few days ago, my sound stopped working. Supposedly, the sound card wasn't working. So I tried to disable it and then enable it, but I got the Blue Screen of Death after disabling it.

When the computer restarted, I pressed F10. Big mistake. It started my computer as if it were new. Now all my programs and files are gone. My sound works fine, but now I think I have to redowanload everything I've ever needed, which is going to be a huge pain in the ass.

Does anyone know if there's an easier way to get everything back? It'd be much appreciated. (I have to run this with IE=Yuck!) And just so you know, system restore has no access points, so I think I'm stuck.

Update: I believe I found the old files which were stored in the old user, so I'm copying them to my C:Drive so they're more easily accessible. Other than that, I still need to recover my old programs.

You could try searching for your programs? Sorry got nothing to help :(

To be quite honest, i use Ccleaner quite often, and it's never happened to me. It could be possible there was a fault which deleted the files, or the program was a bit of a dud. Though tbh resetting it was the best thing to do, so don't worry about it, it means whatever it is would be out of the system now, just make sure you don't download it again just to be sure

You could try searching for your files in the Command Prompt. Maybe even try Safe Mode and see if any of them are in there. ***many files will not be in safe mode***

You could also try scanning with your security protection and see if any are picked up.

IF you have backed-up your computer in the past, reinstall the disk so you get most of your files back.

But other than that, i dont know...
*btw, I use Clean Up! for mine*
