Finding a decent pci card tht actually works!

I am running my home comp on an intel celeron (ouch) 256 of ram (ouch!) and 8mb of built in graphics (!!!!!) The thing is i dont want 2 go buying a new motherboard so tell me, what is the best pci, not agp or pci-e graphics card i can get? and pref give me a price and where i can buy it from. Thanks

you can get a mobo and cpu package dirt cheap, some mobos have built in graphics so it wont be much.

I was able to run a Nivida 5500 fx on my pci mobo befor i upgraded. It is probly the best pci card you will be able to find out there. If your not trying to run graphic intensive games you should be fine. Though i was able to go from my old pci mobo and my 5500 fx to a new pci-e mobo, graphics card, power supply and case for under $400. It will run most of the latest games. Though by run i mean open. I by no means sujuest you try run graphic intensive games with this. I have been for the past year and it isn't pretty.

My only suggestion is upgrade, for 500 bucks you can make yourself a speed machine, 250, fairly decent, what you have now is in the smoking pile of obsolete shit category.

lol for 300 you can buy an e-machines! full pack (w monitor and printer) AMD sempron 3400+, 256 graphics cared, 512 SD rams, 160 harddrive

One pioter guys, he lives in wales :) so sites like newegg are in $, and we use £.

but for as littel as £150-£200 you could build a new pc :)

I have a dilemma now, i have seen a gecube radeon 9250 (pci woohoo!) and i know it will work on my comp. But when i asked my mum about gettin it she blatently sed no. apparently i am not alowed 2 install it and she has better things to worryabout. Help guys!

The 9250 is a good choice, my friend has one in his funky dell and it serves it purpose fairly well.
