A young child and her mother are happy today,
A father, a monster is slipping away.
He slips quickly into darkness.
For no reason he screams and he throws objects at me and around the room.
He then goes away but for only a moment.
Mother tells the child to go and hide,
The child knows what will happen if she doesn’t
She goes and hides behind the door in a downstairs room.
Her mother retreats upstairs to hide, locking the door, so he can’t get in.
The father curses and throws things some more.
Moments pass after a door is slammed, the child left motionless crying is still hiding.
For fear her father might return.
For fear her father might still be in the house.
Her mother comes to get her and they are left weeping on the floor
For he is gone for the evening and there is peace.
