...for my age.

This hasn't concerned me until now, and now that I think of it, it's creeping me out.

I'm 17, and I'm still 5'6''. I don't know if it's just me, but I've seen guys who were shorter than me in my freshman year, and now they've already completely passed me.

I'm really confused about this. Junior year was a pain in the ass, and I've pulled so many all-nighters that I can't even remember the last time I had a dream!

Does not sleeping affect my growth? And at at what age do guys stop growing? I know it's all dependent on genetics, but now I don't even know.

I don't think that sleep would have any affect on your height. And pubertys different for everyone. So it's kinda difficult to say when a guy quits growing, cause it's different for everyone:). Hope I helped:D

Would you like to try 3 inch stilettos? [/lol]

You're just lagging behind, just wait. There's a myth that sleep is the time that the body grows, don't believe that (bunch of BS i presume) But if you really want fast results you may want to consider my first suggestion ;)

Whilst sleep isn't the time in which your body grows, sleep is when your body is able to balance out all of your hormone levels, some of which are vital to good growth, without disruption. For some people, they can not sleep yet their body will still balance things out OK. For some other people, sleep is a vital part of maintaining the balance of all the chemicals needed for the human body to grow.

It's also good to make sure you do sleep well each night anyway. Taking massive benders / not sleeping for a long time can disrupt your circadian rhythms. This can therefore affect the function of other areas of your body.

5'6 isnt too short, if you reach 5'8 thats about average height (worldwide) for a male.

Sleep does effect height, while your growing its recommended to get aprox 9 hours of sleep, your body doesnt stop developing till about 21. I think height is also effected by gene's, im not sure about that but ofc people have had midget parents and grown over 6 ft

While you're a little shorter than average, you're not really that short. My dad is only an inch taller than you.

But remember you're 17, and guys can still keep growing up until their mid 20s. It's even possible you'll hit another growth spurt.

Some people are just shorter, or maybe you're still growing. No matter what, you can't change it :(

well i know people say that a lack of sleep cant affect you that way but i have read that it can. that its all about genes, heredity and nutrition and sleep

Well if you don't grow you're still about the same height as Tom Cruise, Jack Black, Jon Stewart, and many more.

Okay, sleep has some to do with it, although you grow at a slightly lesser rate during the day, you do grow more when you are asleep. As far as when you stop growing, the period of rapid growth associated with puberty stops between the ages of 18 and 22. Depending on you, you might still have a few years left to grow, but as rude boy said, it all depends on you personally, everybody develops at a different rate.

I hoped I helped. :D

Dude, don't worry.

Here's a proven fact: Some of the shortest men are the most successful in this country, and I guess it's because they're just a burst of energy and capable of great things.

Sleeping does effect your growth because you grow while you sleep, also you could be the same height as your Mum and Dad due to genetics.

During sleep isn't the only time you grow.

My theory is, the healthier you are, the more you will grow to your potential. Have a spotless diet and your teeth will be clean, your bones will get enough calcium, your muscles will have enough protein, and your skin will be healthier. Exercise, and your body will be in better shape and last longer. Get enough sleep, your mind develops better and this may in turn affect your body.

But, I'm a small guy too. I'm 5' 6" and a half. I'm 17, a senior in high school. Sometimes, we just turn out that way.

Men keep developing into their early 20s. I wouldn't say that I'm finished, because I don't know, but I'm not going to worry about it. I'm short and that just happens to be me.
