Is masterbation a sin?

I've been masterbating for quite awhile and i never really thought if it is a sin or not. I feel bad about it but i know it's normal. I've researched throughout the net and i can't seem to find a answer which is straight forward. I don't want to ask at youth group cause it might seem awkward. :S

i think the bible says you shouldn't do sexual acts simply for pleasure but i mean if everyone who masterbated went to hell atleast half of the people on this site would be going to hell.

if it doesn't get in the way of other things like family friends and school i personally thing it's ok.
