"Not exactly your childhood toy, the company's documentation says that the Arctic emits a 445nanometer wavelength cool blue, ultra high power 1 watt laser beam that appears to be up to 4,000-percent brighter than that built by one of its competitors. "Don't let the Arctic name fool you, this laser possesses the most burning capabilities of any portable laser in existence," they boast. "That's why it's also the most dangerous laser ever created.” And this is a toy?"

I can haz?

It's not exactly a light saber but it's close enough. Needs a wider blade and higher hear capacity though.

Just wait a few years and they will perfect this. Technology is like that.

I knew they were, I just never thought we'd see one in our lifetimes. The science has been there for some time, just never thought the tech would catch up this quickly.

Wonder if they could spread out the light a little bit, so that it would look more like a lightsaber.

I'm sure they would on later models. The amount of money they could make by marketing them as actual lightsabers is too good to pass up.

...Also, I see a problem here. This may have commendable burning capabilities, but it is still a laser- not a lightsaber. The difference being that a laser shoots a very long beam of particles, where as a lightsaber has a finite length. I want to see this thing in action as I can't wrap my head around how one could limit the length of the beam.

As I've seen a few of the Star Wars Specials and they said, that a Lightsaber, wiuldn't be a laser, it's be Plasma.

Fair, in which case, I think calling this thing a lightsaber would be fairly inaccurate.

For now, let us use mirrors and prisms to make it look like a lightsaber :P
