Well, you can be harming yourself. Don't get the wrong idea, I'm with you, I think pot totally should be legal, but I'd be lying if I said it doesn't make you lazy as hell. Some people can get stoned all they like and maintain busy lives and careers. Most, in my experience however, cannot.

You may not be harming someone else but you would be doing some gradual harm to yourself physically. The experiences may or may not affect yourself and others, usually they don't affect others directly.

Here in lies the problem. What are you accomplishing? What do you plan to accomplish in the future? I am for the legalization of pot, because I believe people CAN use it responsibly and in moderation. One of the reasons it's not legal is that too many people DON'T use it responsibly. Think of the stereotypical stoner. That person is a drain on society, usually taking out more than they're putting in.
(Of course the other, probably bigger reason is that not enough people stand to profit from it's legalization, and many places and organizations would loose money, but that's a different issue.)

i agree, i used to smoke all day everyday......until i got suspended from school a couple times, but i did after school and weekends. then i started to get paranoid, and i stopped talking while i was stoned, so i cut down a lot. now i do it every once in a while maybe once a month er so, and its great(:
i think it should be legal and used in moderation, and responsibly

Being a teen doesn't allow you to slip by the rules that most adults live by every day. You are actually supposed to learn how to respect and interpret the rules in your teen years not break them.
I'd be lying if I said I have never done weed and I have never thought it should be legalized but as Tim said, it makes people either bat shit crazy or lazy as hell. When you are high you can sometimes lose control of yourself and sometimes lose grip of reality. You can harm another person during this time and when you finally sober up not remember it. (This includes other drugs as well)
If you'd really like to lose some of your senses for an hour or so by inhaling smoke then by all means do it, but it's your fault if you don't succeed because of it and it's your fault if you let it take over your life.

Actually you COULD harm others while under the influence of weed. I have personally smoked weed before and everything seemed slow mo and if I had done anything that was around other people that required concentration? Well they would've been hurt. Just like someone driving while smoking it, they may think that they are perfectly fine and then get in a car accident and kill someone.
It is detrimental to your body and many people do care. If it is used responsibly then you are right who cares? Otherwise you are putting others at risk.

I used to smoke weed like i drank water, id blaze huge amount of schwag all day every day and had no I'll side affects. I did all my school work, i was less disrespectful to my parents, my stress levels were low as hell and i was generally just a nicer person. Then my parents got me tested and i had to quit. Fuck did that suck. I hated everything, i almost got in like 5 or 6 car accidents in a week of driving to school, and got in a few fights. (totally not like me, a pacifist by nature) Looking back on it i think i smoked a bit too much because the comedown i had. The point is, weed isn't bad for you and if you're not an idiot you can still function in society and even be a better person perhaps. Big weight on the perhaps.

This is not a good thread at all, but here is the advice:
You should care, weed is not harmful physically but mentally
Anything can be mentaly addicting.
is just the fact that thanks to you and other people in this world we have more junkies, that cannont live a normal life because their life depends of something, drugs, food, sex, work, internet etc..
Are you saying that the rate of junkies has gone up because some teenagers like to toke weed?
You need to get a reality check.

what "rules" are you talking about man? because if you mean the law? than you are sorely mistaking. you need to live life by your own rules, have your own morales and go your own way. one knows not to kill or steal or rape (etc.) from instinct, the rest is for you to decide. no matter what age.
don't live life the way your told.
and don't be closed minded.

Yea and the quote that gotanydman just posted,
No one smokes pot and forgets what they've done while they are high, you're obviously thinking of another drug, i mean I'm high right now and I'm fine.
The point is, if booze is legal, pot should be too.

My point exactly. But unfortunately, people like to be in control and control the lives of others.

I smoke a LOT, and when I stop every once in a while to let my tolerance to it weaken again (because it makes it better :D), I get REALLY stressed out and feel like everything is pointless, and I can't do things as easily as I could before. Everything gets really boring and not fun.
It's really hard to last a week like that lol.

Well then, you're addicted to it.
Not a good thing to do imo. If you genuinely feel you have problems in life bad enough to choose to become stressed about, learn to meditate. It's a lot lot better for you than relying on a drug (be it legal or not) to make you feel better.

It's not that I'm having withdraws from it or anything, I have stress issues in the first place. And when I say I can't do things as easy I mean I don't have as much motivation because when I'm sober, it seems like it would be a boring thing to do (like school work), but then when I smoke, it seems like I think it'll be fun and I always think to myself when I'm high "I should be using my time productively" and so work seems like a good thing to me. Hard to explain. But it is kind of good to keep it in moderation.

Meh, that still sounds to me like you're addicted. You can't function as well as you can in a sober state as you could in a high state. I still say go for the meditation route and stop relying on cannabis :P

Hmm.. Well I've never tried meditating... And mental addiction is stupid to me anyways, because things seem a lot different, but I never feel like I HAVE to go smoke or anything.

You should give it a go; I started it to replace weed for helping me to relax / clear my mind of all the shit it used to be full of. I personally don't believe on reliance on any drug whatsoever (be they legal or illegal).
The only reason say that it sounds like you're addicted is because you say that you can't function 'normally' / 'as you wish' without cannabis. But hey, it's up to you what you do with your own body man :)

The government cares. Weed is not good for you, and if everybody was stoned all the time, then nothing would get done. A prime example is opium, people would just sit there and smoke it all day. Weed made it's way onto the controlled substances list because of this high, and has not been removed because it is so detrimental to your health, more so than tobacco and alcohol. More over, the government is here to protect it's citizens, even from themselves.
I hope I helped. :D

weed is less harmful and less addictive then BOTH tobacco and alcohol.
get your facts straight rather than pulling them out of your arse.

In what parallel reality are you living in?
Since when has the government ever done something to "protect it's citizens?"
The government does stuff to keep a good image and gain profit.
Second of all, tobacco and alcohol are WAY more harmful to one's body.
You are blinded by an idealist point of view, life is not like that, the world doesn't work like that.

i think its you who is in the parallel reality. the US government passes hundreds of laws a year to help you and the rest of our citizens. im sorry, but it just pisses me off when people dont appreciate a decent government like ours; if you need to learn to appreciate it, go live in north korea for a few years.
anyways, back on topic. people see your lifestyle as unhealthy and they want to help you. you may not think you need help, and you may or may not be right. however, they are convinced that you dont know whats best, while you think you do know what is best. im not going to take sides, but thats why they care.
