Agh, my sun burn is killing me. However, I'm allergic to aloe, which is the common remedy. Is their anything else to put on it?

Sudocrem, i know it's marketed as baby rash cream but it's kind of like a "wonder cream" and can be used for the likes of acne and sunburn.

According to lovetoknow.com, you can use moisturizing lotions (preferably without dyes or perfumes as those may irritate already sensitive skin), or a calamine lotion.

According to MayoClinic.com, "Apply cold compresses — such as a towel dampened with cool tap water — to the affected skin. Or take a cool bath or shower."

Much thanks to everyone. I shall try these. :) I've been applying sunscreen constantly since I was burned. SPF 70+ is my best friend.

Take it from a pro, I get sunburns like it's my job, even when I wear sunblock, and reapply like crazy.

Aloe helps, but obviously you can't use it.

Take a cool bath with oatmeal in it, it helps, just don't clog the drain with it afterwards!

I've never tried, but my grandmother used to put white vinegar on my mom after she got a sunburn. Apparently it stings for a few minutes when you do it, but it helps in the long run.

Try to stay out of the sun as much as possible while it's healing too. Sunburn on top of healing sunburn=hurts like a bitch.

Don't laugh it off, but natural yoghurt helps ease the burns and remove the redness :) Just make sure it's JUST yoghurt and there's nothing else in it, like flavour of nuts or whatever. DEAR LORD don't ever put oily stuff on or butter, it doesn't work

You shouldn't apply sunscreen, as this only protects you from the sun. You should try the special 'Aftersun lotion' which is available from all supermarkets, pharmacies and health retailers. You should apply it every morning, any period thoughout the day where it is irritating and then before bed. If you are allergic to some substances, check the labels and wash off immediately is any symptoms persist.

Hope this helped you,

Ryan

You need to be careful under what temperature you are having a sunbath under high teperature will burn your skin rather than tanning it.Am using this opportunity to introduce myself to the community. My name is Calvin and I,m the new kid on the bloc hoping to find my way around your community to meet some nice and interesting people with fresh ideas.Hope we find a common path to tread.

try rubbing alcohol

That's only for preventing infections from burns, not sunburns.

I'd suggest bathing in cool water, NOT ice water. And drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated (Sunburns make you thirsty.) And dress in layers.

I'm with Marcus, a cold shower/bath is the best way of soothing sunburn. In the long run any of the other suggestions work.

OMG! Every time I get a sunburn, I take Vinegar and pour it onto a towel and wrap it around me. Yes it might sting for a slight second, but it sure does help. I'm not quite sure if the stinging (for me) is from it actually "Chemically" working (I'm not for sure if you would call it that) or its just really cold when you apply it. :P
