View Full Version : A new Holocaust

The power of persuasion was key to the WW2 Holocaust, 6 million Jews were killed, and 6 million other Gypsys, Homosexuals, certain types of christians, intelects, and many other more were killed. All through the power of persuasion.
Lets talk worst case scenario, if there was to be another holocaust (god forbid please), How could one man persuade all? what could he/she do to create another Holocaust?
If you dont think that it is possible for our world to have another Holocaust, remember, this is very possible if one man could persuade all! Another Holocaust will be terrible and we dont want it to happen ever again.

Why post never forget 3 times? once is sufficient.
modern society may not be the brightest at times but im sure we're past holocaust times. also for all to trust 1 in a society where yes the ignorant will follow but those in powerful positions with quick sharp minds will not be so easily fooled. there is little to no chance of another holocaust. so why dwell on the subject

It's not below us and it never will be. That kind of thinking will lull you into a false sense of security. Any leader can then point out a "threat" and sway the will of the people.
“Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.”

Well, there have been mini holocausts in the past 30 years. The former Yugoslavia, i.e. the Slavs and Serbs, Rwanda, and all these other ethnic cleansings that are going on right now. So yes, I can see there being another Holocaust because people can be persuaded to think people are inferior.

A holocaust on that scale will most defiantly happen again.
Humanity rarely learns from its mistakes.
The real question is will my generation be the one to do it, or will it happen farther into the future.

people are generally getting more intelligant with each generation expected to do slightly better. back in the early 20th centuary Europe was extremely religious, Germany no exception. Hitler manupulated the citizens through the likes of religion and their sheer desperation, i would not see anything like this ever happening again on such a mad scale, unless all of society where to collapse.
as long as society stays secure so will the ability of reason

I disagree
A person, is intelligent
People, are fucking sheep
from a very early age it is ingrained in you to do as you are told and to never question authority
that has not changed

Exactly. ^
And flocks usually have a shepherd. It happens so many times. It's so easy to get someone to follow you. Especially when manipulated by their religious beliefs.

Agreed.
The bigger the group, the easier it is to convince them of anything.

You do know that the groups massacred weren't convinced right? Hitler convinced the German people to join his new reich and to eliminate all those who opposed him. They weren't told, "Hey, get in the gas chamber." and go, "Sure thing boss!". Some of them put up fights, which would end up in getting hung from a pole, shot, and left to die. So you see, it's not as simple as you think.
Lets talk worst case scenario, if there was to be another holocaust (god forbid please), How could one man persuade all? what could he/she do to create another Holocaust
There HAVE been other events similar to the holocaust as Jake has already pointed out. What history texts have you been reading? But for another massive holocaust to happen...I do believe it will happen again. Kodie pretty much summed it up: People are sheep. The bigger the group, the easier to convince them. You won't have to do much to be followed.
Another Holocaust will be terrible and we dont want it to happen ever again.
Another holocaust will happen. When that will be, no one knows. But when it does, I think we can all guarantee that it will be on a scale 10 times more massive and worse than the WWII holocaust.

Your view of "powers of persuasion" I see also include putting a gun to one's head and saying "do or die!" [pull trigger], moving down the row.
Lets talk worst case scenario, if there was to be another holocaust (god forbid please), How could one man persuade all? what could he/she do to create another Holocaust?
Drop the inaccurate book/source you're reading and look at the world. Battles/wars/conflicts continue to occur, such as the North vs South Korea battle. There officially was no treaty or ceasefire ever held so the two countries are still officially at war. Recently, North Korea presumably sunk a South Korean sub while in South Korean waters and it's kicked up a lot of dirt from not only those two countries but from others, such as Canada and the USA.
If you dont think that it is possible for our world to have another Holocaust, remember, this is very possible if one man could persuade all! Another Holocaust will be terrible and we dont want it to happen ever again.
You can delude yourself as much as you want but another Holocaust of greater scale will occur. Why? People are irrational, easily led and don't see eye-to-eye, and when it leads to violence as a temporary solution, it generally escalates. There are only three questions to ask: 1) When will it be and for how long; 2) Who will initiate it on who?; and 3) Who will the allies and opposition be of those not directly targeted?
Regardless of the answers, technology is a two-sided sword. It can make society prosper and it can make society crumble. As time goes on, whenever the next Holocaust happens, the technology used will be vastly superior to what was used in the previous Holocaust.

Have you ever heard of Darfur? There's a genocide going on to this very day.
And Hitler pulled off the Holocaust just right, which is how he won the support of the German people. He helped Germany's economy and established a better lifestyle for the Germans. Plus he started the prosecution of the Jews gradually, so no one thought he was too extreme. Obviously he was a horrible person, but he didn't need everyone's support. He had the German army and the alliances with Italy, Japan, and the German people to accomplish everything he did.

First, it's not "haulocaust", it is "holocaust"; look at a dictionary if you do not know how to properly spell a word. Second, you are incredibly ignorant to think that Obama might (key word) start another holocaust. Granted, I don't like the guy, but that gives no reason for you to warrant and decide that he'll start a massive genocide. This is incredibly ignorant. I'd like to know at least three examples as to how he MIGHT start another holocaust.

Now, to be back on topic and to avoid any further trivial moments. I saw an OP mention Jim Jones and his mass suicide. I thought that was very sick. I used to watch this show on the discovery I.D channel called "Most Evil" where they did a background and a full story on him.
His mass influence of many people and how people worshiped and listened to what he said and convinced these people to kill themselves and even their children is beyond baffling.

Three reasons:
1.He makes bad dissicions(will someone send me a dictionary)
2.He doesn't take the resources offered to him by other countries to clean up the oil spill
3.He has done nothing to help the war in afgan

That's what caused the people to kill themselves, influence. However, it's typically not easy to influence people (from MY point of view). Also remember, one person doesn't need to lead a group of people to kill. The mass genocide in Rwanda is a good example that an entire GOVERNMENT could do the same.

Right. Then there's David Koresh, and the Branch Davidians, who studied the work of Jim Jones. The Church of Love, the Order of the Solar Temple. Christianity, even.
People are very easily persuaded.

It's called peer pressure. Well at least in my own view it is. For example when you are in an elevator and you don't know which door will open because it has doors on both sides and you see people turn towards the back of the elevator. You will automatically think that, that is the door that will open. It's human nature.
