finally a proper report onto the whole new Nintendo Handheld device. Independant reporters saying that the 3D isn't just a stupid gimick and that the graphics are at least of Wii looking quality. it even has a weird looking analogue stick! i have high hopes for this black and blue device :D

i've also heard news of the two consoles cameras taking 3D photos and the ability to play 3D movies....?!

It's also getting a 3D remake of Metal Gear solid 3...... I WANT THIS SO BAD!!!

Nintendo deffinatly raised my head right off the fukin shoulders with their 3DS but i've never paid much attention to the Wii. Don't be ashamed of your Sony biast views, the physically stronger always wins :D

They're so far ahead of this industry it's frankly, mind blowing. Constantly innovating. It's taken Sony and Microsoft 4 years to come up with something like the Wii. 4 years! That's shit.

This 3DS seems like a totally natural evolution from the DS, something that Nintendo take in their stride. Sony wouldn't be able to do this. My PSP is a sham and I'm embarrassed by it. I hate it forever.

Ooh, but rumor has it that Sony is brewing up another crap-tastic gaming device, but the rumor looks a bit far-fetched right now. They should really think of something that will please the market right now, not tiny updates that costs a lot considering that they can alter the whole thing for the same price.

I'll be getting this thing sooner or later. Right now I am stuck my PSP, I am fking sick of it too. I hope I do, I want to brag like an arse again. :D

But thats the point. Nintendo have been building up to this, a natural successor to the 3DS, while Sony have just been going PSP 1000, 2000, 3000, Go, never making or doing anything big like this, while the PSP is nearly as old as the DS, older I think, in the US. Nintendo have been leading people on with this whole wii shovel ware, DS shovel ware stuff, then dropping this E3 bombshell on us. Well played nintendo. They've proven again, they are the masters of this market.

in fareness both companies have been doing this psp 1000, 2000, 3000 = DS, DSllite, DSi.
and then the finale console the Go and the DSixl that have the most new features.

i'm sure that Sony will probably be able to catch onto the whole 3D handheld system anyway since they're the main investors into 3D R&D atm.
DS3D looks amazing and i wan't it but i doubt Sony will just stand by and see their market share dwindle, since the DS 3D has shown similar graphics and one of Playstations biggest names Metal Gear

But they seem to be limited in what they can do, short of announcing PSP2, which they've already said won't be happening in 2010 at least. The playstation move is an obvious attempt to capitalize on the wii's success, just as an example. I mean the Go has stunk at sales anyway, the Go's trade in value is at $50 at gamespot. the PSP's main advantage selling point over the DS was the proper playing of music, videos, and films. The 3DS can do all this, with 3D. Their options are limited, in terms of what they can do without it looking like they're just copying nintendo, like they did with the move.

the whole industry copies off of each other, the psp2 enevitably will either have 3D or a very high resolution of HD screen. it's not just ps3 that's copying the Wii xbox and playstation are both directly trying to take a shot at the wiis market share

But not blatant ripping, like it'll be if sony goes HEY GUYZ WE GOT PSP2 IT HAS 3D TOO AND WE'RE GONNA REMAKE FINAL FANTASY VII, THE FIRST CRASH BANDICOOT, AND METAL GEAR SOLID 1 FOR IT. And just in terms of sales, the DS has thrashed the PSP. From a personal viewpoint, I haven't actually played a game on my PSP in months, I use it for music, while I'm playing my DS right now.

even so, is it not they're right to? all of those games where designed by Playstation producers and even Crash Bandicoots Naughty Dog is more or less now on their side and after all the investments they've put into 3D R&D compared to other companies i think they where going to head down that road whatever Nintendo did.

I agree with you on the DS sales level partly because the handheld genre is no longer for hardcore gamers which is what Sony where aiming for as their target market for the PSP, to create the ultimate hardcore gamer device, but as per usual Sony has more tech than they know what to do with so their was very little 3rd party support for games with only a couple great ones by Sony themeselves like Killzone and God of War. at the minute i have only a DSi but have owned two PSPs selling them whenever gaming dulls down.
The main reason that this new "casual gaming" fad exists is because Nintendo realised after trying to keep on top of the hardcore gaming genre with the failure of the Game Cube, that they no longer have enough capital in order to compete with the big boys i.e. Sony and Microsoft who have made their fortunes in the Consumer Goods market elsewhere starting into the gaming market as a very small subsidiary of their product outcome as their little "pet projects." if it wasn't for this i believe gaming would still be a completely single marketed audience.

But the DS is one of those consoles, like the PS2, where it has a game for literally everyone, where anyone can find a game to enjoy. I mean the DS is my favorite console ever, just cos it has so many games I want to play, and enjoy playing. Sony's big thing with the PSP was the music, the UMD's, none of which worked like they wanted. It is their right to re-make them. Hut people will be like oh they're ripping nintendo, etc etc. And yes i agree, If nintendo hadn't pumped money into the casual gaming industry(if thats a phrase), then gaming would still be a single audience market. But whether its a fad, remains to be seen. not only if the casual gamer massive now, if the causal gaming market collapsed, quite alot of the gaming market in general would go with it, at least nintendo's.

yea, i personally believe that Sony has problems with their marketing department when i comes to this type of thing. i mean i may be wrong but you never see a ps3 or even remembering back to the ps2 days a ps2 advert. the ps2 owned the largest amount of market share in the last gen that they didn't really need it. if you didn't know what a ps2 was you where either living under a rock or over 50. Sony has tried to do the same with the ps3 but has been unable to do so due to the hundreds of millions Microsoft and Nintendo has spent on marketing, every time i turn on the tv i am gauranteed to see a 360, wii, or DS advert.
they also have the problem of crafting great ideas of how to move to the future but generally fail entirely when putting them together, either picking up the pieces or just left with a doomed brick.
the psp is doomed it is quite obvious that it has been for the past 2 years at least Sony have even discussed dropping it completely, dwarfed by the DS and so too would the ps3 apart from it loyalists if they hadn't re-designed the console with the slim seeing a 1000% jump in sales.

i'm a business student so generally all these phrases/terms are real :D

The PSP could have been so much better than it is, which makes me sad. If sony had made UMD's cheaper, cracked down on piracy, brought out some proper, god quality games, and most importantly, a second analogue stick. Obviously, like you said, the PSP was targeted at completely the wrong market, wrong sort of games etc. The Go has more or less failed entirely, the UMD has failed. The PS3 cold also have been so much more, but $600? I paid £500 for my PS3 at launch(in a bundle obviously), that made nearly cry. My DS cost me £150(the big one), £100 for a lite(not including games) My wii cost me £180(once again not including games) but still significantly cheaper.

i was going to get the Go when i seen bad quality pictures of it for the first time and thought the start select buttons was a second analogue stick, thinking they'd finally done something to improve the games
