Ok, so this post is for all of us actors out there on VT (and any other type of performers). Thought we could all discuss our dreams, talk about how our careers are going (if pursuing), give tips, ask questions.... i think you get the point.

I've wanted to be a performer since age four, and specifically chose acting as my career at age six. Since then I have been trying to pursue it, but because I live in Alaska it has been very difficult. I enjoy theatre acting (which is what I've done most of because that's what Alaska offers) but my heart rests in Film/Television because of it's subtleness unlike theatre where one often exaggerates gestures and such so that the person sitting in the seat furthest away can see your movements and emotions.
Recently I went to a convention where I did a lot of great networking with film/television agents and casting directors, rested a little afterwards, and am now in Mexico (I can speak Spanish perfectly; no accent) taking a month long performing class (modeling, film/TV acting, singing, dancing, and theatre acting) in one of Mexico's top actresses schools. It's kind of like going to school and I love it.
That's me!

Woah, intense. I just do community theater. I don't really want to do it as a career, just as a hobby.

Keep up the good work following your dreams Ivanoi! I wish you the best of luck, and dont let living in Alaska put you down bc well i live in Iowa and theres mostly just theater as well.... but I try to be creative and search for work in film in other states (and have had luck)

As for me lately I just finished shooting a short film which was fun bc i was killed (really cool affects).... then here recently I just signed with my first agent (but this is mostly just a developemental agent). Then I am also begining to do some modeling which is pretty cool .... anyways now I'm working on getting some new headshots. Any tips?

Try to get something that will grab their attention in the headshot without distracting from you. When I was in Florida everyone (except one person because not everyone will love your headshot) loved my headshot and thought it was great that it was outdoors with snow. It stood out, said a little about who I am, and looked nice. I received a lot of great compliments on it because of it's originality without breaking the basic headshot rules.
Good luck!

Umm, well I have been acting for like...7 years.
I have done a bit of everything, mostly theater though and I don't plan on making a career out of it at all.

I do know a bit about the "biz" and I must say...

If you want to get discovered, paying you way there is NOT the answer.
So don't pay all those fees to go to IMTA or whatever it convention is that year.
Get your headshots or comp cards, go on auditions, take acting classes (you really do learn quite a bit for the ones that are related to on screen acting), and be determined.

But don't pay thousands of dollars, it just doesn't work
