I was thinking that it would be a cool idea if we had something like, "Best Posts of 2006" or whatever year it was. People could nominate they're favorite posts from all of the active forums, and then on a certain set date, everyone could vote for their favorites. The winning post starters could get a signature add on. Thoughts?

I don't really like it. Too many posts. and I think our we get enough space for our signitures. More space would just lengthen the page.

No, by sig add on, I meant a graphic that said something like, "Winner of Post of the Year" Not more space.

Currently, we have 88,267 posts. These forums have gone for about 2 and a half years. I'm estimating that the posts that have been pruned and ones in diaries that have been pruned total to be at least 2,000. So now, let's divide 9,000 by 2.5. That's 3,600. So on average, we have at least 3,600 posts every year. I do think a single best post out of that number could really be determined. And besides that, the posts that were made at the beginning of the year don't have a chance to be remembered or even found. I don't really think it would be so great. Maybe if we were much more organized and if we had some forum dedicated to thread content and rating... Though right now, it's a good idea, but we wouldn't be able to pull it off quite the way it's intended. Although, on a final note, that might destroy someone's esteem if they fought so hard to win, but lost. We try to include everyone as one community, ya know? :)

I agree with you kiros
lagistics alone arent gonna work
and you have to take into consideration that VT is about common ground and mutual acceptance
so having one winner out of hundreds
wouldnt work out very well

Well, that's how things usually work... One winner, lots of losers. :/

Post Of The Year Awards!
The nominies are:

*}Whisper{* - for posting a very informative news peice in the VT Daily Chronicle,

Kiros72 - For helping ScotsGirl a couple of weeks back, and gave some good health advice,

Se7en - For posting another informative new peice in the VT Daily Chronicle,

-I.Suck.You.Rule- - For giving some very good encouragment for a member in Cutting and Self Harm,

Apocalyptic_Storm - For making a guide to a forum system of some sort o.o

R_master - For giving others prospect on drugs, in the Drug Abuse forum,

***JG*** - Nominated by members because of his 'Do the Mario' thread,

and Progamer9515 - for posting 'internet 4 porn' in the Coffee shop, also nominated by the members.

And the winner is...Progamer9515!
Sorry, JG, your thread wasn't funny enough,
R_master I guess you need to do more drugs to really find out yourself,
Apocalyptic_Storm that guide was bullshit and didn't help me at all,
Cutting isn't funny, that's why you didn't win -I.Suck.You.Rule-,
Se7en I don't want to hear about the Perfect Diet,
Kiros72, that one shouldn't even have been nominated, because it wasn't even this month,
And *}Whisper{*, I don't wanna hear how the world is percived in someone else's eyes.

^See^? This is how alot of Prize and Awards go. It goes by what is most accepted, and who is actually voting, and whether the topic is serious enough or important OR bright enough (as in happy enough) and has a good mood, since alot of people like good moods. It would just look like dirt on somebodys face if you made them win, for posting a video about video-game creatures singing about porn! Disclaimer: These were random things taken from everywhere, and some of the ideas were made up. This does not reflect the views of the postee, this was simply made up for an example.

And, you could have a number of ways it goes wrong, like the Academy Awards. Brokeback Mountain didn't win, it's just a gay movie. We heard enough about racism, but let's give the prize to Crash anyway :)

Eh, this was a rambeling post :whoops: The point is, I don't think it would be a good idea. There's alot of people that help, and are we just going to pick between those things and then deside which is better? A person that IS self harming could benifit from that information, while the whole concept and detailed information of another post lets everyone know what's going on in the world, and both have their own good sides, to other people. Plus, some people might vote, but not read the entire post of that person, because to me usually better posts are longer.

So, I don't think it would be a good idea, at least in my opinion. Although, I thought something like this would get suggested :D No offence, Zach :)

I see someone who has noooo life.
This is pointless.
The nominee votes were really crap as well.
People that judge this shouldn't be a bunch of noobs.
Nor, should they even be in the running.
cody wins.
Time and time again.
Progamer5137523753? what the fook.
Cody still wins.
He is knowledgeable, he ALWAYS backs his point up.
He never looses control and he is actually intelligent and doesn't SUCK UP.
He is the literally one of the only people to stand when he wants and not give a living shit who else is standing up.
I could really only say that about 4 more people here.
I really could go on and on about the leadership qualities cody holds, but lets go on to second place.

TIM: Your opinons usually were aginst mine, but you always were one to speak your mind about anything and know when to speak and when not to.
Your intellect definantly is proven in your posts as well.

honorable mentions:
Lynne/Alex/Heather: Helpful...they truly are..case closed.

Matt: You are hilarious. whether you see it or not you are.
you always have really short posts, but they get to the point and state your opinon wisely.

Kiros/Adam: Well, adam was a true man to be bold and have to listen to 12 year olds with penis problems and kiros was all good and spiffy with computers.

David: I would have picked you, but you are incredibly redundant and make insanely long posts and during those posts, you tend to get wayy off topic.
You're helpful and a pretty decent guy as well. My compliements dont get much better....

Dante: yaya SEX, and funny jokes and news and stoof!yay

Patch would be up there if it were 05...poor boy left kinda...:[

Bobby: better grammar and less sucking up and asking for mod jobs...
you will be there next year.
Lloyd: stop making unusally pointless posts and learn how to be an individual.
kiros isn't here to babysit you in real life.
you have potential though.

Well, if pros were allowed, i'd have won.
I flame, im witty, fuck with me, ill have no pity!
I'm smart, i rule, you are just a tool!
I'm wise, im mean, i improve your self esteem!
I'm loud, im lucky, omg look it's chucky!
lol j/k

*cheers*
