what is the point of the hairs around the arsehole?

not sure what there for, i feel they are unsanitary so i shave them (be carefull if you try, not from experiance, but just knowlage). think about what excriments get caught in it. i wish i had none.

It's partly for insulation - people long ago had a lot more. Also, it's for more detailed feeling back there. It aids the nervous system. :) Science.

The most probable answer is that it was (is?) in a way or another part of a sexual signalling mechanism, i a way similar to armpit hair. Hair tend to have an influence on how sexual pheromons are spread.

It is similarly unlikely to have been related to temperature regulation - if it were, we'd have such long hair since childhood, and so would women.

I don't know if the butt hair are still useful nowadays, though. It could just be a surviving trait of a past mechanism. But since human pheronoms still play a role, I'd bet those hairs can still serve a purpose in a limited number of cases.

I'm fairly sure that hairs around the anus serve the same purpose as all the other hair on the human body, insulation. Obviously it's no longer needed and without going into a detailed explanation it's difficult to explain... but basically they're for insulation.
