None of that 'Lol i jst liek dis wun moar' shit. Explain why it's better.
For mine, I'll do Starstrukk by 3OH!3. Just typing that made me vomit a little.
<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/dvf--10EYXw&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/dvf--10EYXw&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
Then covered by Marina and the diamonds:
<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/6nCRqL5UmN4&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/6nCRqL5UmN4&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
My reasoning: It doesn't take a genius to point out that the original is an absolute douchefest. It just radiates douche. They even do what I call 'douche-dancing' in which you don't actually dance, but bend your knees and lean over while swinging your hands at the ground with what appears to be vague 'gang-sign' like gestures. Marina slows it down, and adds meaning and heart to this normally shallow song. I feel like it was for almost ironic intentions. She once stated in an interview that she couldn't stand 3OH!3. This cover was to make a statement.

Run joey run by glee i think they just have a better vocal range and rachel has a softer more feminine quality to it. and the multiple male vocals gives the song i nice twist

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FjV8SHjHvHk This one's the original, it's good, but the latter is better.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHK_HoOM1xo The cover by Sonata Arctica.
The Madness.

Hendrix's version of All Along The Watchtower. I've come across a lot of people who think he wrote it but it was actually Bob Dylan. I'm a bigger fan of Dylan than Hendrix but his version beats it by far.

"红豆“ Original by 王菲
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRoA4EtNedQ
“红豆” Cover by 方大同
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRoA4EtNedQ
Both sing the song very well, but i think 方大同 version is better because the instrumental part doesn't sound as empty as the 王菲 version. Mostly the drum part because the cover has more bass in it than the original.

Another one
"The Lady is a Tramp" One of the original versions by Lena Horne
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rClOD3UUtFI
"The Lady is a Tramp" Cover by Tokyo Jihen
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0QlopIW1Qg
To me it seems like this is supposed to be a funny song and the Lena Horne instrumental seems to serious as opposed to the Tokyo Jihen version if more fun. Lena Horne is a much better singer though (excluding the fact that she's a native English speaker).

Ah, Tokyo Jihen! I've got to say, I'm not massively into Japanese rock but I've got one of their CDs somewhere and it's pretty damn good. I'm not very well aquainted with jazz either, but I had a feeling that one wasn't an original.

the Tokyo Jihen one was a cover. the Lena Horne one was also a cover but it came out about a year after the original (1938) so i figured i'd put that up

Bon Jovi's version of Hallelujah, by Leonard Cohen. They really did well with this, even if it's a live-only cover. Especially on this recent tour, Jon Bon Jovi just goes all out with it, it sent chills down my spine when I saw it live, with him a few feet away. :)

I love Social Distortion's cover of "Ring of Fire" originally by Johnny Cash.

I find it better because its faster paced and I prefer the rock genre.

Can no one read directions? I don't give a shit that you like something better. I want to know why the cover is better. How does the cover artists style suit the song better? What components dwarf the original?

All the covers named sucked. Other then Hendrix's sunshine of your love and all along the watchtower. Everything else is crap.

Only a crazy hipster would write a paragraph why one song is better then the original.
