ok, so here i was with my bluetooth and my mp3 player on my phone and i though i'd be future proof for a good while, but now there's all these phones that can browse the internet for free and stuff.
so i'm wanting to know if there would be any good smartphones that wouldn't "break the bank" as i'd probably be getting it on pay as you go, so the likes of the iphone 4g would be out of it cause it costs like £400+

They're only going to browse the web for free if its connected to WiFi, your service provider will charge you if you do it over their network.
The Nokia 5800 is pretty good, though the touch screen is different than the like of the Droids and Apple products. I got it unlocked for $280 (I don't know how much that would be in GBP, but it couldn't be too much.) I've had it for a while, and it does take a bit of getting used to, especially if you are used to like the iPod Touch, but the only real problem is that it doesn't have a stopwatch/timer :P

yea i just checked out Carphonewarehouse.com and realised that you really do need it on contract, i was thinkin the x10 mini as it's probs the most powerful one for only £15 a month?

That phone looks very good, and its free. If you could, though, I'd get the 20 pound a month plan, as 500 texts with the 15 plan isn't really a lot. And with the 20/month plan, you get some internet, which is really one of the best things about a smartphone.
