Well done on admitting it.
Next step is seeking help for it.

There's no possible way you're only eating 169 calories a day. You'd die in less than a month due to severe malnourishment if that were the case. I'd suggest seeing a threapist or something of the sort to break out of this funk.

^^ It is possible, actually.
Jamie
June 8th, 2010, 12:31 PM
That would mean the calorie intake/burn ratio to be about 169:1200+.
I really doubt it. Then again, OP do you mean per meal or per day?

Doubt it all you like, the reality & facts are still the same, it is possible & happens.

it does happen. i've never done it or been anywhere near that, but i have a friend that nearly 2 weeks without eating anything. she was constantly fainting and could barely walk to school, but she did. because her body was using the fat on her body for energy rather than the energy from food. thus loosing weight...
anyways, back to the OP, first of all, well done for admitting it! thats the first step. now maybe you should tell someone about it, and try and get help. that's all you can do really. x

You burn roughly 60 calories an hour from just being awake, I think it's 45-60 per hour while asleep. I assure you, those calories do burn off, whether you want them to or not.

i really dont suggest arguing this with me considering your not me. you can go about 2 weeks without eating because your body eats your fat. i know the AVERAGE amount of calories. and it can differ between days.

I'm just telling you the fact, not your opinion, a medical fact. You burn 60 calories an hour just by being awake, breathing, and the like. Therefore, eating 160 calories a day, and doing nothing to burn them off apart from just sitting down or no physical activity, you'll still burn them off in a couple of hours. If our body didn't burn calories at all without physical activity, there would be many more obese people in this world.

i understand that. yes you burn iy off but its not the only amount of calories you have

And medical fact just slapped you in the face.
The medical figures we have are a general guide for the general population. The /actual/ amount of calories you burn per hour depend on an unimaginably long list of variables (Such as how much muscle mass you have, your heart rate, your digestive system [Which btw, uses about 50 calories an hour to digest food {So cut that out of the equation and she would be closer to her intake of ~160 calories/day}. And we know that when your food intake goes down, the calories burned by your digestive system also goes down], and so on).

That is the first case ever recorded, as well as the odds of anyone else having such is well beyond reason. That does not pertain to the OP.

You quite simply stated that it was medical fact (And you implied that it was medical fact for all humans.) I was quite simply showing you by that article that medical 'fact' is not always reality.
That does not pertain to the OP
The rest of my post DOES, however.

That is the first case of it being recorded, therefore out of 6,000,000,000 people in the world, he is the only known one, therefore that still doesn't exactly prove me false. He could have a disorder, or could be a one-time case.
The rest of my post DOES, however.
Yes. I am aware of that. However, I had already stated that, and the variables it depends on (heart rate, number of breaths taken, and amount of food taken in) were implied.

She posts for support, & she gets this?
Some forum this is.
She's reaching out, & you're slapping her hand away & more than likely giving her more reason to never seek help again.
This is the information she's given & she's admitting she has anorexia, & all you care about is the calories she's eating?
Wow.

Jamie just leave her alone. It doesn't really matter if you think it is possible or impossible that she eats 169 calories per day, because she still is stating that she has an eating disorder.
Anyways, I would imagine that admitting, and even coming to terms with it, is pretty rough. Next step: seek out help?
