Get an account on last.fm. Download & install the free sofware that 'scrobbles' your music when you play it on you computer (e.g. in iTunes and Windows Media Player) or on your iPod so you can get recommendations (it's not hard to do, PM me if you get stuck and I'll help). Go onto last.fm when you've scrobbled a decent amount of music and on the homepage you will see a recommendations thingy. Find bands/artists here. Listen to & scrobble lots of music and you will get better recommendations. On the last.fm website you can also search a genre (like you could search for a genre that you want to find out about) and find popular and hyped, small artists on the genre's page.

All this is assuming that you do not use last.fm at the moment. If you do then use it to find next bands and genres etc, it is very useful for this.

I didn't ignore it. I looked at yours. I didn't find anything I would want to listen to more than once.

If you can listen to that many genres and that many bands and not find anything you really like, there's no helping you, as your horizon isn't going to get a whole lot wider.

This. This. This.

You said expand your horizon as if you were looking for more underground music and something to experiment listening to stuff. Of course I was hearing it all wrong. Sense when does anyone on VT have an open mind to music?

A couple of my old favorites are Eluveitie and Amon Amarth. You should check 'em out, they're pretty much awesome.

I liked a few, but most of it was too slow and further listening would put me to sleep. I don't hate any of them. It's just not something I would find myself listening to more than once.

First one that comes to mind that I liked was that one song by The sword ( Freya I think its called )

I'm gonna recommend Bon Jovi and Daughtry.

Though with Bon Jovi, they've done a lot of different genres. So if you like 80s hair metal, you'll like Livin' On A Prayer, You Give Love A Bad Name, Runaway, Shot Through The Heart, etc

If you like more modern rock, try Hey God, Have A Nice Day, It's My Life, or Keep The Faith. :)

Based on your current bands, I would recommend Cage the Elephant. They are an alternative band that I really enjoy.
