It's not racist.
Just by looking at the text within the card, it does not remark about any form of racism.
Perhaps the real factor that initiated this event is the voice choice.

haha the NAACP is a joke
instead of actually doing something about our situation they bitch over little things like hallmark cards or the n-word
i hope hallmark comes back with a card that actually IS racist

OH EM GEE. THE CARD SAYS "BLACK" SO IT IS CLEARLY REFERRING TO BLACK PEOPLE.
Seriously? Do these NAACP fucktards even realize what a black hole is? Referring to black women? What? NAACP has outlived its usefulness. Stop trying to find offense everywhere, especially something so inconsequential as Hallmark cards.

Black holes obviously mean African-American vaginas.
This card is obviously racist. They put up a blackboard. Like black people can just be written on.
And I don't know about you, but "holes" definitely sounds like "whores."
Hallmark, watch your back.

I see no racism in this card. I think Mues put it in perspective perfectly. They're just looking into everything and calling out racism. I heard "hole", not "whore". If you heard otherwise, you have a hearing problem. The NAACP is a joke. All it does is call out racism and people don't even get what racism is anymore.

Lol, no. If that card's racist, then I guess I'm a racist, too. Black holes are pretty ominous, y'know. I don't even see why the NAACP is still around, lol.

We should also take into consideration that the members featured in the video are old. Younger NAACP might not perceive such notion of racism.
I don't feel that there are any subtle or obscure remarks about black people in the voicework, but the tone and accent can be seen as questionable.

Oh come on. The NAACP would start a nuclear war if someone said that they hate black jelly beans. They're like the black equivalent to PETA.
Lol, PETA.

The NAACP is wasting their time if they try and look for racism in everything. Anything can be racist, if you make it racist. If people did not make exclusive unions based on skin colour, and stopped trying to search for accidental racism in everything, then there would be less racism. Racism is seperating people by race, skin colour, religion, etc. but if we just referred to people as people, then there would be no racism. You could say that the NAACP is trying to get all races referred to as people, but they are being racist themselves just by calling it the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, and excluding anyone who does not have dark skin.

Will the NAACP allow me to be a member? Then they're being racist. They refuse to aid whites. Meanwhile, if I were to form the NAACaucasionP, I'd get sued out the ass. If you ask me that is racist.

Agreed 100 percent. The same goes for Miss Black USA and the likes. Should someone suggest Miss White USA, the freaking world would end. I have to ask who the racist really are.

Racists are just people who put extra emphasis, whether it is with good intentions or bad, on the dividing line between different ethnicities. I prefer the idea of a human race.

Oh my God.
There's a line between an actual racist remark and paranoia. The card said "black holes," which sounds like a reference to graduation, science.
I think everyone just needs to grow up and learn to let things fly. When someone creates a card that says "All black people should die" or something, THEn we can have controversy.

The black people in this country are on average MUCH more racist than white people. This doesn't mean all of them are though.

I have to agree...
I have aboriginal neighbours who drunkenly (and soberly) rant about how we are all, in their words, "white c*nts."
I also find that they often turn normal, polite comments into racist remarks and accuse everyone of being racists.
But there are also lots of aboriginal people in my area who are normal, nice, friendly
people.
Racism is just too sensitive!
I really don't care what colour people are, they're still people.

Hes so right. This shit happens all the time.
Especially when he says that the African Americans are the ones bitching about it.
Its a fucking card. I don't understand how the fuck you get black whores from black holes. And really. Who the hell listens to it so closely to even make out black whores? Its like everything is fucking racial now.

NAACP is just plain moronic.
"OMFG this card sounds like its saying black whore!! Hurry we gotta take this shit off the shelves before it makes people bitch and cry about it!"
"But sir theres a bunch of people in white robes and pointy hats beating an African American right outside"

Those organizations and events aren't about making it so only one race can participate. The main focus is to give a minority a better chance at something and to give the other people in that race a sense of pride and accomplishment.
There doesn't need to be a white version of the NAACP because white people are already more advanced in society than any other race and by them being the majority they have better chances at gaining things than minorities.
The point is to help, not hurt but the NAACP is becoming outdated they need to either get rid of it or get rid of the old people running it.

I facepalm'd, this is ridiculous. our society gets too easily offended, not just over alleged "racism" such as this card (which... isn't racist) but other trivial things such as gay adoption (see other thread). It's hard to believe hallmark caved in, but the resulting PR mess that would've come out of it if they hadn't would've been ugly.

Just to clarify, I didn’t mean all black people were racist.
I know I will never get this into words but, I watch TV shows that refer to white people as crackers, snow white, whitey and on and on and on. I doubt in recent memory if anyone can recall a show that refers to black persons in that same manner. That type of TV programming seems to be accepted today and for some reason a white person can’t complain or else they are labeled as a racist. I feel a little bit of bigotry with that.
I hope to see the day when people refer to each other as just friends, not my white friend or my black friend.
I’m not debating or auguring with you. I’m just trying to clarify.
Peace my friend.

They've been outdated since the 1950s. Yes, the Brown ruling was monumental, but after that it was the work of the SCLC, SNCC and CORE that really got things done and brought segregation to an end.

It's a card, and your complaining about it. These people just wanted to be noticed. I think they know what the card is really saying.
