I've been having dizzy spells for the past week. They started when I was getting over this virus I had last week (just a cold type thing) and since then, they come and go and last different amounts of time. I am anemic so I don't have a lot of iron in my blood and I read that could cause dizziness, but I've never had this problem before and it's really freaking me out. I'm afraid to walk for long periods of time b/c I feel like I'll fall over. I know it's not dehydration because I've been drinking water, Gatorade, etc constantly and that doesn't help. But I really don't know how I can help it, so any advice would be appreciated! Thanks.

if you said that you recently had a virus, you could have become slightly malnurished through recovery. i would however consult a doctor if it got severe, especially since you are anemic.

it's the anemia (i'm anemic to) and that's what happens to me, so don't be worried, you might have to eat more iron containing food, exercise more and just generally be healthy that way the iron tablet and the food will help with the dizzy spells. It can be the affects from the iron though, you never know so i'd go back to the doctor and see what they say. Have rest periods, say what for a little while and sit down, don't do to much all at the same time, it'll make it worse. Around your period you'll have to be more careful because that can defiantly cause dizziness.

Well, firstly, from what you've said you drink a lot of crappy drinks as well as water - don't! They play havoc with your body's water retention abilities and bad water retention can equal low blood pressure which can equal dizzy spells. Just stick to plain water.

With the anemia, that could be making you feel dizzy, yes. Your blood is reliant on iron to enable it to transport oxygen around your body. If you have a lack of iron, you could have a lack of oxygen going to certain parts of your brain which could make you feel a bit dizzy at times.

Go and see your doctor and they should be able to do the relevant checks to find out what's wrong.
