So what I was thinking was, this would be a great way to prevent people from getting into trouble, like making a list of the most common things people here are banned for, I mean I know you guys have rules but I think a list of some sort would really cut most of your bans back.

The things most people get banned for are already obviously against the rules - things like camming/pic trading, multiple accounts, etc. Having an easy list probably wouldn't change that much since those people should already be far more than well aware of how seriously those things are taken.

We might as well have the rules up. Tbh if you break the rules, you get an infraction its pretty straight forward and common sense really.

if people read the rules in the first place, and followed there would be no need to ban them. most of the rules are common sense anyway. those who get banned are usually just trying to cause a problem.

Tbh at the end of the day, the main reasons for banning are in the rules and common sense. if you stick to the rules there won't be a problem. the rules are what we enforce and if you read those and abide by them you won't have a problem

There should be some way you can't post until you read the rules. There was one forum where you have to take a quiz about the rules before you can even post.

I've seen forums like that. Some prevent access to certain area of the forum, some, like you said, prevent posting, and others actually use it as part of their registration and in doing so they don't even make the account accesible until the test is finished. :) It's annoying as piss to take, but I grew fond of the idea.

That is a really good idea.
I've never actually heard of that before and I'm a member of shitloads of websites. It may reduce the amount of people breaking the rules or it might just stop people from joining altogether.

I like that. All members must read the rules [or at least pretend they did] before posting.

Most of the things i've seen with that it makes you wait ~15sec before you can click "i accept" to make it harder for people to just skip over it

I don't know if it's possible to create a 'quiz'. The forum I was talking about did not use vBulletin. but if it's possible that would be a very good idea to see if people read the rules or not

Quite honestly, I think a quiz or anything similar is a terrible idea. It's more of a deterrent. Sure, following rules are important, but almost every member has broken one at least once in their career. It's a waste of time and space. The rules are fine the way they are. Maybe emphasize the more commonly broken rules might help, but anything more is just going out of the way for some silly rules.

I brought up this idea to Aaron a while back. Exact same thing.

What people are banned for is between the staff and the member
But heres a list (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/faq.php?faq=rules#faq_behavior) of the things that get people banned

Multiple accounts, cam/pic trading activity, and probably under/over agers.

there ya go :P

but there are other reasons that people get banned for so i suggest people read and follow rules
