A sexual abuse trial in New Zealand was aborted after a juror disclosed he was aroused when listening to evidence from the alleged victims, two teenage girls.
The elderly male juror told the other 11 jurors he coped with his sexual arousal by wearing a condom in the courtroom, the New Zealand Herald reported.
The trial began on Monday and the jury members were sent home early after the man claimed he was distressed by what he heard during the first day at Auckland District Court.
He allegedly wore the condom on Tuesday.
The man reportedly also shared his thoughts on other aspects of the trial, leading to the trial being aborted.
On Wednesday, Judge Mary Beth Sharp questioned the jurors about how they were coping and the man's claims were put forward.
The trial was supposed to finish yesterday but will be rescheduled.
Court staff have confirmed the case had been aborted but would not disclose why apart from it being a "contempt of court" issue.
Police are looking into the matter, the New Zealand Herald reported.
