Rainstorm
May 30th, 2010, 10:40 PM
The waves crash silently against the shore,
Determined to continue their repetition forevermore.
The full moon shines in the blackened sky,
Stars all around it, I swear I could cry.
I’m standing at the shore, my feet nestled in the sand,
Trying to see you from a far to distant land.
It’s been two years now, I’m giving up hope,
That you will ever come home, I guess it’s a nope.
I remember the night that you left me here,
With nothing more than a single tear.
My fears are now reality, though I pray it is not so,
Please prove me wrong, love, please come home.
I can’t wait for you much longer, my heart already aches,
So brittle and alone, I fear it will break.
Memories of us are an ocean in my mind,
A single sign of you, I crave to find.
More tears fall from my eyes,
Forming a river that I can not hide.
You’ve hurt me now, and I can’t wait any longer,
I need to move on, it will make me stronger.
Kneeling down, my hand brushes the sand,
Placing on it, my cherished wedding band.
Moving my hand, I bury it away from sight
Letting it disappear, like day into night.
Turning my back on the darkened shore,
My heart craves to look back only once more.
But, I know now what I must do,
I’m sorry love, but time for me to try something new.
Determined to continue their repetition forevermore.
The full moon shines in the blackened sky,
Stars all around it, I swear I could cry.
