i know i've been depressed since i was 8... but the more i look through old drawing books and stuff, i cant help but wonder just when it all started.
like today i was going through some paper and stuff to find some sheets to write revision stuff on, and i found this big sketch pad thing, it had drawings of bullying and uglyness... little kids drawings of it.
not really sure what this post was in aid of.
just wanted to get that out i guess.
what age do you think its possible to be depressed from?

Atleast 4 and on.

That's a good question. From when one gains the ability of emotional awareness, I would say - 4 and up is a reasonable conclusion. If one can experience happiness, then they can equally experience depression - although in many cases, significant catalysts for it may not come into place until years later.

Sometimes there is no saying for sure, just when and how one ended up walking down this path. It is a combination of factors of course, at work over extended periods of time - only these tend to successfully create lasting and deeply-rooted states of being.

Definitly agreed with Krezlyn.. I guess at any age where emotions can be felt..

I'd say it varies from person to person but between 2 and 3.

As the others have said, it can start from a young age, where emotions can be felt and take effect.
So i'd think like 4 or 5 maybe

What's your opinion Natalie?

I don't really know, I was guessing around 6, but now people have said around 4 that sounds more right.
I cant anything before I was 8, so I guess I never really knew what it was like to be the ages prior to 8.
But seeing as I was severely depressed at 8, it makes sense that it had so long to develop.

Natalie, please... you need to find an expert professional at mental health issues. You've been depressed for a long time, so it has a lot of inertia already. You need to start reversing that NOW, it only gets worse over time if you do nothing. I've read some of your other posts encouraging others. I can see that you're quite thoughtful and deep, a very decent person. Please fight and find your happiness.

I can't really remember a time when i wasn't down or depressed.
Im guessing it may have started when my parents split, about 5 years old. I just want to be happy, but i'm 18 so I can't see myself changing..although it could happen.
Ive seen some of my old notebooks from primary school, and some pages have the people I hated being shot, stabbed, with blood everywhere. At the time, I didn't think it was a problem, but looking back I'm shocked at the drawings.
Natalie, there are loads of people in a similar situation to yours, like me, so your not alone.
Not sure this post of mine is particularly helpful, as i'm just ranting about myself :D, but I hope things improve for you Natalie :)

I've been depressed since I was roughly 6/7 years old.
At age 7 I was referred to CAMHS.
I think it's possible to be depressed at any age to be honest.
At the more "lucid" ages, around 3.
