i cant remember how i fixed it years ago. so yeah. [directX 9.0c error]

basically i got to install sims 2 on my pc, it installs and everything is fine.
(i also run sims 3, and zoo tycoon 2 on this pc, both of which run perfectly fine... well sims 3 not so much but thats because the PC is old) but anyway.
and then i go to run the game, and it says something like
no directx 9.0c compatible adapter has been found.
so yeah, i remember getting this error a few years back, but i cant remember for the life of me how i fixed it.
so yeah, anybody got any idea.
Figured uploading literally what the message says might help, so here;

Failed to find any DirextX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in the system! Please make sure you have a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest frivers provided by the manufacturere. The application will now terminate.

It does work on this PC, eventually. I've had it working before, it just stopped.

Have you tried reinstalling directx? Either from Microsoft or the cd.

i'll try that later, i'm trying to avoid messing with it because i know it's going to stress me out lol.
only other thing i could think is to completely reset the system and start again...
not sure if i can be bothered trying that though.

For a game that could (and most likely) have an easy way of fixing, then reseting system isn't maybe the best idea >_~

probably vista and sims 2 compatability issues tbh...

If sims 2 keeps crashing itll be a mis match of .dlls between sims2 and vista.

Right click on the shortcut icon, go to properties, compatability and then choose windows XP SP3

and it SHOULD stop crashing

maybe time to upgrade that 7300GS tho ;)
