so i hate war... nor do i understand it's concept.. So you kill other people because you can't discuss verbally an agreement between the two. Both countries having a massive ego and not giving up, until they finally see the horrors of war.. hmm.. I think I'm losing a lot of citizens.. alrighty.. i guess time to give up? O_o the other country not showing mercy so that the othr country does give up, so that country wins and is all like yay i'm awesome i just killed a lot of your poeple.. so now we can have a discussion on an agreement, peace treaty the usual after war stuff. So basically a whole bunch of people get killed for nothing. I can see defending a country. If someone attacks you, go ahead defend yourself, but invaiding their terroritory and wiping out their population, killling innocents won't do anything. There is no way to peace. You can't get to peace through war... really you can't. Peace is the only way!!! Peace, coexist, and tolerance. I say this because well obviously there are religous wars out there. My God told me to kill your people so,.. I'm going to contradict my beleifs and go kill you.. because that makes sense O_o. What is your opinion on war, religious and non, also state why so there is discussion here. I like hearing people's opinions.

Well if you think about it as off the cold war and the nuclear arms race peace has been assured on a large scale through the concept of M.A.D(mutually assured destruction)
since if one country launches a nuclear attack then the receiving country will launch back
knowing that most countries are now detered from wars as they know that the effects of it could lead the world destruction
btw moved to ROTW

Nuclear weapons are pretty effective when only a few people have them.

Well think about it this way
how many bombs have actually been used as an act of aggresion since there creation?
and how many other means of killing them enemy without hurting civilians have been produced and are in use today?

well that would be a terrible thing cos then it just leaves the victor to be the one with the pointiest stick
weapons have reached their limit of destructivity and thats whats gaining peace
to solve the rest of the combat smart weapons are being developed to only target enemies

Sometimes diplomacy just doesn't work. See World War II. Britan and France tried to stop German aggression through peaceful means, but Hitler ignored it and invaded Poland. Force is required to stop militant states.

Actually France and Britain let Hitler get away with stuff in an attempt to stop a war
they let him be aggresive to the countries before Poland as they thought it would stop him starting a war
Poland was just the thing theyd declared no on and which kicked off the war

also known as appeasement
but anyway back to hiroshima and nagasaki
was it necessary to show its killing potential
maybe
would the same result have been gained by launching on unpopulated land or a military base?
probably

peace has been assured on a large scale through the concept of M.A.D(mutually assured destruction)
some people are okay with complete destruction...especially if they think they will be rewarded eternally

If there is no way to peace, we won't find it. Peace isn't the way because nobody opts to take it, historically speaking. Also, I hate that quip. It just makes no sense
