My school has open showers. I think there are about 10 showers spread out at 2 foot intervals. No stalls, not even any partitions. A wall separates the main changing rooms from the showers, with one way in and one way out - we don't have to shower but a lot of people do.

This is a little off topic , and perhaps a little stupid, but I was always kind of curious why they design the Jr, high and high school showers the way that they do. I would suggest for efficiency and cost I am sure. But to answer the question, every school that I have been in has always had the open shower layout/design. I know in one P.E. class that I had, your grade was affected if you didn't take a shower.

I've sort of noticed this too. The older schools seem to be open and the newer schools have stalls. But when there are stalls there are fewer of them. It kind of defeats the purpose I think. Sure there is more privacy when washing, but since there are fewer of them, guys spend more time naked in line just waiting for one to open up. I prefer the open ones because you can get in and out faster.

Its just a big open room with like 20 shower heads on two walls and ten on the other. Everyone basically has to shower unless it is the end of the day or else it gets really stinky.
