I know a lot of cheerleaders and i think it is, because they get a real good work out, and basically it's gymnastics with different uniforms and different routines. If gymnastics is a sport, so is cheerleading.

I'm not a cheerleader by any means, no way in the world haha. But I know a lot of them. I'm a two sport athlete, and let me tell you, they are all in FAR better shape than I am.
It might look effortless and graceful, but the fact is, it takes A LOT of strength to do most of the stuff they do. Watch a real cheerleading competition, can you do any of that? Probably not.
Definitely a sport.

I'd say its an art rather than a sport.

Yes, it requires strength and skill. Is it a sport? No.

It's a sport. You have to stay fit, go to practice, ect. If swimming is a sport, so is chearleading.

I believe it is a sport because they have to come and practice everyday. It is a difficult sport to do. It hold competitions and for sporting events it is a a form of "art" as said above, but it is physically straining and they work hard
Yes it's a sport

I think the word Sport is really hard to define and I think it gets mis used. I hear people call darts a sport . Guys with huge beer bellies moving their elbows a few inches is not my idea of a sport. Ballet isn't a sport but the dancers are at least as fit as any athlete.
You have to have some skill and fitness to do it and if kit surfing is a sport I can't see why cheerleading can't be.
