Files on CDs aren't m4a. I think m4a is iTunes (it might actually be m4p I'm thinking off) in which case you can't put the into Windows Media Player because they're DRM encrypted. What version of media player are you using? If they're on a CD then try going to media player and "import music" or something. I don't know, I don't use Windows and even when I do I don't use WMP.

Odd... MPEG4 is usually used for videos... Though I know WinAmp can play them, so I guess they can also hold audio alone... Though in any case, CD music is usually stored with CDA extensions that are really small. They are just pointers to the actual audio data and also hold a bit of information for them. To get the actual music off of a CD that has CDA files (instead of pure MP3/4) you will have to rip the music off with, of course, a ripper. I know Windows Media Player 10 can rip music nicely. You might have to do the same thing for mp4 files; I don't exactly know because I've never personally dealt with ripping mp4 formatted files :?

Im guessing you MP3 player accepts WMA files aswell, so just rip the CD with Windows Media Player instead...It will come out as wma
