Red Dead Redemption or Grand Theft Auto 4.
They're both made by the same company and both use the same engine with basically the same controls.
The question is, which do you prefer - the wild west or a typical modern city?

I've always gone for modern cities so I've voted gta.

However after playing red dead today, I loved it. Really considering buying it.

i was really dissapointed with Episodes of Liberty City. the bad graphics and the rather bad stories compared to Nikos. so Red Dead to me seems like a nice change

Well you have to consider that this is a different time period game. Though both are good I'm going to have to go with GTA even though Red Dead is the new hype of Rockstar's new release I have yet to play it, but it looks really good. I think this is the second Red Dead Revolver back in like 2004. That was a good game very challenging I liked it. So let's see how this one turn out. I voted for GTA

Red Dead sounds really awesome considering they dont make very many Western games and I am interested in that genre. I still watch Bonanza and Gunsmoke and I enjoy depictions of the "wild west." That said, it has been a while since the first "Red Dead" game and Gun, both of which I enjoyed. I am probably going to pick this up when the price drops. :)

Oh, my God. Red Dead. I was playing multiplayer with my friends all day yesterday and it beats GTA by a mile. It's a fantastic game. I love it so much now.

i got red dead today and it's more or less the exact same game only a differant setting. controls are the same, fighting is the same, there's a similar running away from the authorities system with the red circle on the mini map, and the voice of the player is that stupid biker from the Lost and the damned.

it's still a good game if your a fan of the producers but Rockstar really need to fix the contrast/brightness ratio on their games, adding in one of those "adjust the bar until the image is barley visiable" things, because in red dead you can get the brightness and contrast almost perfect on the outside but once you go into a building it's dark as shit, the same with the cut scenes.

Ok, I was saving my opinion until I had played Red Dead for a good while. And I have come to the conclusion that the game is fucking amazing.

I've been playing it almost all day today with a couple of friends, even when we weren't doing anything - Just riding around together and hunting deer, it was great fun. When people fail and end up riding their horse over a cliff... attempt to steal a carriage and get a shotgun to the face.

The special hunter challenges are epic, hunting down charging bears and wolves... shooting wild birds etc.. I just think that the entire game is amazing, the only questionable aspect is the structure of the terrain, sometimes a horse can jump up a sheer rock face but you fall down 2 inches and die...

I choose Red Dead. Just because of the horse XD

I played the public multiplayer game types last night (Grab the Bag, Hold your Own and Gang Shoot out). I've come to the conclusion that it's pretty damn shit, the ranked multiplayer on red dead is just as bad as gta4. With the Auto-aim and overpowered guns.

I think I might just stick to gang hideouts in private with my friends. :)

Nah, man. The competitive multiplayer is amazing, man. Gang matches with your friends and your friends' friends is just fantastic. Especially Tumbleweed; that is an amazing map on Gang Shootout. And then shootout and gold rush are fun, too. RDR is just amazing multiplayer, haha.

I agree, with friends. It's great, because they play nice. When you play a game with total strangers though, they just whip out the most powerful gun they have and start owning people across the map. It's so annoying.

Besides, playing the Twin Rocks gang hideout is the best xp on the game, as long as there isn't more than three people.
