I'm looking to buy an electric guitar. I don't really know how to play pretty much at all but I want to learn. Does anyone know if the Fender Squire is a good guitar? It's pretty cheap for a Fender so...but I've read reviews saying both good and bad things.

I have a Squire Telecaster that I used to use. It was good, but the jack input would break a lot... -.- It as used, but it still shouldn't have broken as many times as it did. it's still good, though.

Get an Ibanez ART120. It looks great, sounds great and has a great price (mine was £270, I dunno what this is in US$).

I don't really like fenders but i agree with Dan, Ibanez's are awesome. I have an ibanez GRG170DX that was only £170 :)

You could go with the Squier Strat, which is the standard thing to learn on. Make sure you get the real Squier though, cheaper copies tend to be... nasty.
Or you could go alternative, and find a cheap Ibanez, as has been previously mentioned. Other good starter makes would be:
Epiphone by Gibson
Yamaha
Gear4Music
Westfield
Tanglewood

I started on a Yamaha and i wouldn't recommend it. I hated mine although it is quite and easy to guitar too play :/

I have a special edition, Squier Stratocaster and it sounds pretty good, I definitely think it's worth the price, at least for a first guitar.
I Love my Ibanez so much more though :P
