How can you get banned??

To be banned, one can do multiple things:

1. Break any of the sites rules that warrant bans

2. Conjure enough infraction points to be banned automatically

If you feel the ban is unfair, you can appeal to [email protected]

What happens when you're banned anyway? How come some banned people can still post?

The people that are banned that are banned can no longer post. Once you are banned you can not access you're account you are terminated permanently from the site.

in most other forums that use vBulletin banned members have all their posts deleted. is this the case with here?

Some members have their posts deleted, some don't, depends on the content really. Most of the time, it's not deleted no.

People who have their IP (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_address) banned can never come back, even if they make multiple accounts. It bans the network of that person, basically. Say you have four computers in your house. None of those computers could access VT; none could make accounts or anything.

Just adding to the answers, OP. You can also be "frozen"
meaning your basically temporarily banned.

I am thinking that his e-mail was broken or the [email protected] email address was broken because the admins go through appeals on like a daily basis
